iCloud Sync After Updating iCloud Password
FYI for those experiencing the same issue I did after updating your iCloud password and when using iCloud Sync in 1Password...
- I updated my iCloud password on my Mac (in Safari), using a password generated by 1Password for Mac.
- I then needed to enter the updated iCloud password on my various iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.) Because it was a (long, complex) password generated by 1Password, the easiest and most reliable way to do that would be to go to copy the new password from 1Password on the iOS device and then paste it into the password field in the iCloud settings on the iOS device.
- However, 1Password on the iOS devices would only show the old iCloud password; even after forcing sync on the Mac and then iOS devices (and even after rebooting everything), 1Password in the iOS devices would not update with the new iCloud password. I was stumped for a bit. There was no error message when I forced sync, but the sync did not seem to work.
- I eventually figured the problem must be that, because I was using iCloud Sync in 1Password, the iOS devices could not access iCloud because they had the old password. (Even though there was no sync error message.)
- To sync, I temporarily switched to Wi-Fi syncing in 1Password, then synced. That worked. I copy/pasted the new iCloud password, then switched back to iCloud syncing in 1Password. All was well.
I am assuming I diagnosed and handled this issue correctly. If indeed that is correct, it would be helpful if the failed sync generated an error or other message in 1Password, and perhaps the workaround could be explained in a FAQ if it is a common enough issue.

Hi @kbringuel
Thanks so much for sharing this here! I'm sorry to hear that you've had a bit of an experience changing your iCloud password. That's always a fun one, as Apple seems intent on asking for it everywhere as soon as you change it. Your solution of switching to Wi-Fi sync is a nice workaround.
I tend to use 'Diceware' for my AppleID and my Dropbox password, since there are times where I end up having to type it frequently. You can read more about Diceware in our blog post: Towards Better Master Passwords - all about creating passwords that are both easier to remember ... and type.
In any case, I'm happy to share your thoughts with our documents team. :)
