I am running Safari Version 7.0.6 (9537.78.2) and get the message "An error occurred while installing the extension '1Password'" when trying to install the 1Password 4 Browser Extension (1Password-4.2.4.safariextz)

Upgraded Safari to 7.1, Restarted Safari, Reset Safari, Manually removed "com.apple.Safari" from library. Removed com.apple.Safari.*. prefs. Still no luck.

This is about a year old and may solve the issue you are experiencing however you would also need to reinstall any other extensions in use.

Removing the /database and /extensions folders from ~/Library/Safari worked! Thank you so much!
