1Password for iOS suddenly a free App? [Sort of ... 1Password 5 for iOS is Freemium!]
It seems like 1Password for iOS is currently free in the AppStore. Is this intentional?
I recently bought 2 copies for family members in the "sale" and to be honest I feel a bit cheated now.
Also, this free version is shown as "with In-App Purchases", which I don't see in the App.
Is AgileBits changing the business model for 1Password?

Yep, interested in knowing this info too. Also feel a bit bummed having recently paid out.

Uhm, we already paid for upgrading from 3 to 4 when iOS 7 came out, now we will probably forced to buy IAP for iOS 8 specific features... and AgileBits stated that upgrade would be free for existing users!
I feel scammed...

I'd rather not jump to conclusions.
If they change their business model for 1Password and indeed start using IAP's, they somehow might "grandfather" existing customers?
I started this thread (and mailed AgileBits) in the hope of getting an official statements (there are rumors that this is just an error in the AppStore and I will feel sorry for them if it is - this App is worth the premium price).

As far as I know, there is no way to give IAP for for to existing customers. So, if they switch business model, we'll have to buy it (or switch to another app, as I'm tempted to do having already bought a concurrent app for iOS and Mac).

I just bought the app as well and felt upset about the intra app purchases (not about it going free). They did say iOS 8 upgrades will be free so I do trust them on that.
EDIT: apparently It's a glitch. Apple accidentally made the app free before the release of iOS 8. It will be fixed tomorrow .

I wonder what will happen to all those that download it while it's free? Will Apple remove from their accounts, will they pay Agilebits out of their own pocket for screwing up?

Hm, Tweetbot developer Paul Haddad just retweeted this link to an article about the pricing:
http://www.businessinsider.com/1password-offered-free-in-apple-app-store-2014-9
TLDR: Might be a mistake made by Apple?
Update: incorrect according to AgileBits founder Roustem Karimov on Twitter:
Apparently we have to wait until iOS8 is out for further details.

Will the iOS 8 version of 1Password have in-app purchases?

@tolaini If Twitterrific did it when they went Freemium I don't see why 1Password can't. As a Twitterrific user I can confirm this worked for me:
http://support.iconfactory.com/kb/twitterrific/in-app-purchases-in-twitterrific-57
If you purchased a previous version of Twitterrific 5 and you do not have these features when you install the latest version of the app, you can go to the Advanced Features section in the sidebar and press "Restore Previous Purchase" to enable these features at no cost to you. When you restore your purchase, make sure you use the same Apple iTunes ID that you previously used and the advanced features will re-enable once your purchase is restored.
Remember their Android app is on the freemium model which provides any user with some basic features. It's only fair to iOS users who don't already own the app to provide the same. The premium functions will probably still cost the same via IAP but now everyone will have access to some basic features.

Seems like AgileBits is about to release 1Password 5?
Note for early adopters (September 17, 2014): In 1Password 5, iCloud sync requires iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).

For those enquiring how the new 1P5 for iOS will work there's an instructive page in the knowledge base here.

Stephen, thanks! That's the information I was looking/hoping for.

The Pro Features link doesn't work.... so, can that be fixed? We need to know how to unlock the additional parts if we own 1P4 (as we all do, of course). Thanks!

Here is a working link to discussion of the pro features in the user guide. They're also covered in the link referred to in my post above. If either of these links is not working please let me know. (I've had problems before being able to access links others can't because I'm a moderator, so apologise if I'm directing people to links they can't yet view!)

Hi everyone,
I think that the information that you all need has already been helpfully provided by @Stephen_C, but I just wanted to chime in here too.
1Password 5 for iOS is indeed a 'freemium' app. Users can get the basic features of 1Password for free, and the 'pro' features are available for an in-app purchase. All users of 1Password 4 for iOS will get the Pro features of 1Password 5 for iOS unlocked for free.
I sincerely apologize that you've waited this long for the 'official' Agile response - yesterday was a bit of a busy day for us, as you can probably imagine. But I do hope you all are enjoying 1Password 5 for iOS. If you have any further questions about our pricing model, I'd be more than happy to help! :)
