I have the extension enabled on my iPhone 5S that is updated with IOS8 and 1Password5. When using safari on iPhone and then clicking 1Password icon, I get a blank screen with the 1Password logo in the background. Can't see vault, logins etc.
The 1Password app works fine. Problem is using the Safari extension as detailed above.

Same issue here on iPad mini retina; blank screen with 1pw logo.
    Only option is to cancel.

  • Hi folks,

If you are experiencing this issue could you please try updating to 1Password 5.0.1 and see if that resolves the problem?

    Please let us know.

No, using 5.0.1 did not fix the issue for me. I am on iPad Air

I never installed 5.0.0...so issue with blank window (except for logo) is unsolved in 5.0.1.

    Hi everyone,

Since we're not dealing with a lot of detail here, I'd just like to explain how the app extension works in mobile Safari. It's not quite as fancy as the browser extension in 1Password for Mac. You don't have the option to scroll through your entire list of Logins to select a webpage to open.

When you are viewing a log in screen in mobile Safari, you should be able to access the 1Password app extension, and, once unlocked, 1Password will display the Login entries you have that match the particular URL you are viewing.

Currently, we are noticing that 1Password is being a bit particular when matching the URL. For example, if you are viewing m.facebook.com (Facebook's mobile site) a Login for www.facebook.com will not show up. We're looking to improve 1Password's matching abilities here, but in the meantime, if you have a Login saved for a particular site but it is not showing up in the app extension, please add the site's mobile URL to your entry as a secondary website.

I hope this helps, but if you are still seeing odd behaviour from the app extension, please do let us know and we'll investigate further!

Ok, so it only looks in the category login items!
I have an entry in software licenses for 1PW where I have put the log-in url https://discussions.agilebits.com/entry/signin
This doesn't work w the extension but if I create a login entry with that same url then it shows up as the only entry in the extension window. So I am forced to have a separate login entry on top of other category items. A workable solution but slightly inelegant.
Maybe the information should be added to user guide (if it's not already there).

    Thank you for the explanation.

    Hi @Tee_Jay,

Ah, that would explain it! Unfortunately, 1Password isn't quite that clever. Only Logins, Credit Cards and Identities have magical filling properties. The rest of the categories are available to help you organize any other information that you may want to keep secure. If you save log in information in the other categories (such as software licenses) 1Password will not find it. This is the case in the desktop version as well as the mobile version.

Of course, this does mean that you may end up with what feels like multiple entries for some items. I'll be sure to pass your thoughts along to our developers and our docs team - we certainly don't want to be inelegant! :)

So what you are saying is if we have logins we created from our Mac using 1Password for Mac with regular URL's, the mobile URL's in IOS won't work. We need to save two logins? Examples: Facebook Regular Site Login and Facebook Mobile Site Login?? Mint Regular Site Login and Mint Mobile Site Login?
So we'll need two logins for each item?

  • Mike:

No, we're not saying that at all. We're saying you can't login to a website with a credit card item, for example, so you may need to 1Password items for your credit card: the actual credit card item, which is used for filling in your payment details, and also a login item to be used for filling in your login credentials.

For the "regular" vs mobile issue, what you may have to do is add the mobile site as an additional URL ("website") on the login item (e.x. m.amazon.com for Amazon). This only applies for sites that use different URLs for their mobile sites.

Why cannot the iOS Safari extension simply let the user choose from all available 1password items?

    Hi @anderslundstedt,

When using the 1Password extension in a browser on Mac or Windows, you can view the list of all Logins because if you choose one that doesn't match the website you're viewing, it's able to open a new tab or window for the website in the chosen Login item.

That isn't currently possible on iOS. The 1Password extension on iOS can only fill a login form on the current site in Safari. If you were able to choose a Login that didn't match that site, you would (presumably) get an error.

I hope that helps to answer your question! :)

What about filling in registration forms with identity data ?

  • The current implementation of the Safari extension on iOS only fills logins. It doesn't fill identities or credit card information, and it doesn't generate or save passwords. Hopefully we'll be able to continue improving the extension and adding functionality to it. :)

    Thanks.

I recognize the limitations in the iOS extension, but I have noticed that there are a few websites out there that do not appear to work with the 1P extension. For example, "connect.gamin.com" works just fine with the Mac OS 1P but not with the iOS 1P. When visiting the site on iOS, I can invoke the 1P extension and I am able to select the appropriate log in credentials, but the extension does not fill in the username and password info. I am forced to copy/paste the info individually from the extension pop up. Any thoughts?

Also, it would be nice to not have to "cancle" out of the pop up. Any way to have selecting the background perform the same function?

  • Hi @st95dwng‌

I just tested the connect.garmin.com site and wasn't able to fill it either in 1Browser or Safari, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the Safari extension. I will let our developers know about the issue though. Thanks!

Also, it would be nice to not have to "cancle" out of the pop up. Any way to have selecting the background perform the same function?

I'm not sure I follow. Could you please elaborate?

    Hello All,
it is now 3/15/2015 and I am having the same issues mentioned above. Has anything been resolved. No problem setting up logins on Mac 1P5 but in IOS phone or ipad when I am in a safari website and I click on the 1P5 I get the blank screen with 1P logo and am not able to enter ANY information that would establish a 1P5 login. very frustrating and have to believe I am just missing 1 step somewhere. Have read all the "help" topics and just can't get it to work.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Mike ( @ticman ),

As the discussion above notes, our iOS extension is still a fairly new feature, and it's quite as powerful and versatile as the Mac extension. At this time, it is not possible to create a new Login using the iOS extension. It's a feature we'd love to implement in the future, but for now, the iOS extension can be used to fill existing Logins in on websites.

To create a new Login on iOS, you'll want to use our Login creator in the 1Password 5 for iOS app.

Ben, sorry, it's been a while and I forgot to set my profile to email when someone has responded.

As to my comment "Also, it would be nice to not have to 'cancel' out of the pop up. Any way to have selecting the background perform the same function?"

Right now, when a website does not accept input from the 1Password Extension, the user then needs to do it manually, which means opening the extension (again), then tap the "info" button, then copy the username then hit "Back" then hit "Cancel" then paste the username, then do this all over again with the password. It would be nice if either a "Copy Username" and/or "Copy Pass" shortcut was at the top level (like the info icon) or if the user could tap outside of the extension window after the desired info was copied to the clipboard. It would save a lot of tapping.

  • I see. Thanks for the feedback. :)
