Hi,

I recently installed 1Password5 to take advantage of apple touch ID. However, the option to migrate to 1password4 does not work as the 1password version that i downloaded is 1password 5. Sadly I do not have a mac only windows.

Please let me know what option is available for me to migrate data to 1password5

  • Hi there,

You can import your v3 data to v5 without a Mac following these instructions:

    Thanks!

I tried that. But still not working.

Once I press import from version 3(step2.2).

The attached screen appear asking me to open 1password 3.7.

Once i open 1password 3.7, the only option is to press migrate to 1password 4. If i press that nothing happens.

    I am using 1password pro 3.7.

    Hi Yoong Siang Wong,

Thanks for clarifying your version number. Since you're over version 3.7 instead of 3.7.2, the steps described in the user guide might not work perfectly. We'll need to force an upgrade to the latest version of 1Password 3 for iOS in order to make this work:

    • On the old 1Password 3 for iOS, do a backup of the data to your computer. This will create a .1ptbackup file, which can only be restored to 1Password 3 for iOS.

      http://help.agilebits.com/1Password_touch/backup.html

    • Go to App Store > Purchased (on iPhone go to App Store > Updates > Purchased) and search for 1Password there. Make sure it appears in your purchase history. If it does not, stop here and reply to me.

    • If 1Password 3 does show in your purchase history, close the App Store, then delete 1Password 3 for iOS from the device. Now Reopen the App Store and go back to the purchase history.
    • The old icon should be visible with a cloud icon next to it. Tap the cloud icon to re-download.
    • Open 1Password 3 for iOS, and set up the same passcode and Master Password as you had before.
    • If you get prompted to import, tap that you will do it later, but do not tap that you never want to see the prompt again.
    • Restore the .1ptbackup file according to the restore instructions in the previous link.
    • Close both 1Password 3 for iOS and 1Password 4 for iOS from the multitasking view. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137
    • Launch 1Password 3 for iOS, and tap that you want to begin the import when you are prompted.

  • Hi @Emagreco‌

You'll only see 1Password 3 for iOS in your purchase history if you previously purchased that version on the Apple ID you are logged into.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. What step of the procedure from above didn't work as expected for you? Are you getting any specific error messages in the process? Please let us know a few more details.

    Hi,thanks for the support.
When I open 1pw5 I start the importing and then I open 1pw3 (version 3.7) and it asks me I feel I want to import the data into 1pw4.after I click nothing happens anymore.

    TThat where I get stuck.

  • @Emagreco‌ I think you will need to tap cancel and unlock first. It may be beneficial to lengthen your timeouts in 3.7.2's security settings, so you can close the app and reopen without having to unlock. This way you can trigger the prompt again by closing and re-opening 3.7.2, but have the data unlocked so it can transfer out.

My version is 3.7.i set the lock to "never" but nothing has changed.when i tap on "migrating to version 4" nothing happens.

  • @Emagreco‌ Okay, so you are for sure on 3.7, not 3.7.2. You have to be on 3.7.2 in order for migration to work. Please see @Megan's post further up (#4) in order to see how to get to 3.7.2 to do the migration.

As I mentioned above, the problem is i don't see it in my purchase history.

  • Hi @Emagreco‌

You would need to be logged into the App Store using the same Apple ID you originally purchased 1Password using in order to see it:

    Thanks

Hello, I have purchased 1password 5.1.2 and currently have 1password 3.7 on my Iphone 6. I have used the link provided (https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-ios-kb/4/en/topic/upgrading-from-legacy-versions) in a previous forum to try to move my content but it is not working!!! I get to the screen the allows me to choose "Import from version 3" and then I click "Open 1Password 3". At this point my old app opens and gives me the option to "Migrate to 1Password 4" (Not Import as the instruction state it will say). When I click the import option NOTHING HAPPENS. The box goes away and when I go back into the 1Password 5 app it still remains on the screen asking me if I want to Import from the old version.

This is very frustrating and I am hoping somebody can help me quickly! Thank you.

I am having this same problem... I am using 3.7.2 and when I get to the above screen I choose migrate and nothing happens. In the app store it shows that I have 3.7.2 and when I look at the about page on my app it shows 3.7 with a date of Sep 25 2012.
