Changing Master Password
I want to clear up any data files on my Mac or IOS devices that are linked to my old master password. I did note a previous thread saying it was possible/desirable and gave brief instructions how to do it but it would help if you could point me to a more detailed step by step approach if it exists? After choosing a new master password using a 6 word diceware method I realise my previous password was pretty poor and so could be used with legacy versions of my stored data to compromise my data... I think ! Would really appreciate some help, thanks.

Hi @tdavey,
I'm guessing that this thread might be what you are referring to, but I'm going to include a link to it here, just to help any other users who might come across this thread:
Changing master password and re-encyption of 1P data
There's a section in Jasper's comment that discusses how to re-encrypt your database. Essentially, you'll need to export all your data from 1Password and then use the Starting Over instructions to set up 1Password as a new user (with your new strong Master Password, of course) and then import your existing data into the fresh newly set-up 1Password.
If you do want more detailed instructions, I'll need to know a little bit more about your 1Password ecosystem:
- What are the version numbers of 1Password and your operating system for all computers and devices running 1Password?
- What are you using to keep things in sync?
- Do you have multiple vaults?
- Is your data complete and up-to-date on your Mac?
Once we have a bit more detail about your set-up, we'll be better able to advise you here.
