Feature Request: Bring back coloured icons for Categories
1PW 5 for Yosmite... where did all the color go? I have a beautiful Retina display...and a black+white (or gray) 1PW5 Ap what is dull, lifeless, colorless, and dead looking. Please bring back some color, they help the eye navigate.
Also the MenuBar Icon is meaningless, please bring back the Key Icon.

I agree! I really miss the color from 4.x to 5 - please consider bringing some back. Yosemite is flat, 1P doesn't have to be!

Hi @viewpoint and @schwaggy,
I'm sorry to hear you don't like the new design. The interface overhaul isn't necessarily complete just yet, but we are sticking with the Yosemite style, as these are the new design guidelines that most apps are going to follow on both OS X and iOS. With that said, thanks for the feedback! I will pass it along to our developers and designers.

I really like Yosemite so far, but there is just something off about 1Password’s new design that makes it uncomfortable to use. There are other apps with a similar structure, like Mail or Contacts which have fewer of these problems.
Someone else suggested that the fonts are too bright and thin in some places and I agree with that. My wallpaper is dark blue, but the translucency in the sidebar is hardly affected by it, which means that the whole app is almost white or very light grey as a result, with lots of light grey text. Compared to Contacts or Mail, 1Password indeed uses a lot more grey text, whereas on the former apps it is black. That really makes a huge difference, I think.
I miss a bit of structure to be honest. I’d prefer to see the menu bar again, but I might be in the minority with that. But you should definitely tweak the text colour and think about other ways of bringing a bit more colour back.
By the way, I’ve seen several screenshots of 1Password now and I couldn’t help but noticing that the UI seems to look different for some users. Is there supposed to be some translucency behind the search field? Because there isn’t any for me there (you can’t see the list items that are underneath it). And the container upon which the traffic lights are placed also doesn’t seem to show up on your MAS screenshots (there is no border there and it’s also not translucent for me).

Thanks for the continued feedback, folks. We'll continue to improve the UI of 1Password, following Apple's lead and guidelines as much as reasonable.

I find 1Password slightly less usable without the color icons, the color allowed me to recognize the different categories quicker, out of the corner of my eye. Seems not much but why make it less easy to use. I use 1Password a lot, so it does add up over time. That said, love the rest of the new design

I agree with @mmott, @viewpoint & the rest - Differently colored icons help. Or at least give us banded rows.

I feel like I'm in the minority here - I thought the previous coloured icons were a bit busy, and I'm quite happy now that everything is monochromatic. It's less distracting.
Nevertheless, I'm happy to pass your vote along. :)

The recent versions of 1P seem very bland/white-grey. I miss the livelier colour schemes that used to be the design.

Hi @maythahla
Sorry you're not a fan. We try to follow current Apple trends regarding the look and feel of the applications but of course it's a very personal thing. I think I've gotten quite used to the new look myself as I recently opened up 1Password 4 on a Mavericks machine and took a step back having not seen the old style since we released 1Password 5. You might find you grow to like the new design.

I went back to using 1PW 3 simply for the color and icons and visual depth. With EVERYTHING gray and monochrome, nothing is easy to find...which is very distracting and time consuming.

+1 @maythahla I went back to 1PW 3 for the color and visual depth.

Hi @viewpoint What about using 1Password 4 if you're unhappy with 1Password 5?
Just out of curiosity, do you find much of Yosemite visually annoying?

I've gone ahead and merged these two threads.

Finally upgraded to Yosemite and thus migrated to 1Password 5. A great app from an excellent company, thank you. Perhaps I'm in the minority (from the lack of posts on this thread), but I also miss the colored icons for categories. Like @mmott, the colors allowed me to identify things at a glance. I appreciate you trying to follow Apple's UI guidelines, but the lack of color hurts usability. At the very least could we have a toggle for color vs not? This way everyone would win!* Thanks.
*Except the UI designers who'd have to bring back the color, I suppose.

Hi @rtechsolutions,
Thanks for letting us know! I'm sorry you miss the colored icons for Categories. There are definitely other users who have made the same request, and although I can't promise anything, I can certainly add your feedback to our open request for this.
Aside from that, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying 1Password 5 for Mac! If you have questions or more feedback, please let us know. Thanks! :)
