    Hello @elbertlo,

Sorry that 1Password filling isn't working for you with that site. Can you please try manually saving a new Login item there and check if that one works okay? Thanks!

Tried your recommendation, but it didn't work. It looks like the site is erasing the password after it is inserted by 1P.

    Hi @elbertlo,

I'm sorry you couldn't get that to work. Which versions of 1Password and its browser extension did you try it with? And which web browser(s) and operating system?

Another thing you can do is create a new Login item in the main 1Password application, with basic details like this:

Use your own username and password, of course. :)

Sorry I didn't clarify in the original post. I use the desktop version of the website, using Chrome, on a Mac, with 1P v5 and latest 1P mini. Since the mini is the new component, it may be the part of the culprit. The extension that came with 1P v3 worked in Yosemite before I upgraded to the MAS version.

    Hi @elbertlo,

Sounds like you're using 1Password 5.0.2 from the Mac App Store. Which version of Chrome are you using? And when you select Window > Extensions in Chrome, which version of the 1Password extension is installed?

Have you tried testing with a new Login item created in the main application?

    1Password 5.0.2 MAS
    Chrome 38.0.2125.111 latest
    1Password extension 4.2.5.90

I also deleted the login item and created one manually with never submit. It still doesn't work. Actually, it gets filled, then erased. I can see the animation and the password dots appearing and disappearing.

Thanks for the additional information, @elbertlo.

With autosubmit disabled, what I'm seeing here using Chrome is both the User ID and Password fields are filled:

And clicking in the Password field after that will clear it.

Trouble is, just clicking Login after filling also clears the Password field before its submitted, causing this error:

With autosubmit enabled, it looks like correct User ID and incorrect empty Password fields are submitted but there's no error.

The login might be successful using Safari and Firefox (unable to verify here without an account), although autosubmit fails using Safari. I get this error instead:

Here's a possible workaround for this when using Chrome

    • Click in the Password field after filling (with autosubmit disabled)
    • Press Command-\ or Option-Command-\ to open 1Password mini
    • Make sure the correct Login item is highlighted, then press Shift-Command-C to copy its password field
    • Press Command-V to paste that password into the Password field on the BDO Online Banking form
    • Press Return (or Enter) or click Login to submit

    I hope that helps.

I've filed a bug; thanks for reporting it and your patience while I figured it out. :)

Yes, your workaround is what I have been doing. But it would be great if it gets fixed since it was working with 1Password v3.

    Thank you.

Thanks for letting me know that workaround does work for you, @elbertlo.

Now that we're aware of this bug we'll see about getting a real solution for it. :)

Hi, just want to say that I'm experiencing the same exact issues using 1password 5 for Mac, on both Chrome and Safari, on the BDO website.

I was previously just using 1password on iOS (purchased), and was running an expired trial version of 1password 5 for Mac (which I was not having any issues with for everything else), when I encountered the problem of the BDO website changing the saved password in 1password to all asterisks. I thought it was a "feature" of the expired trial version causing this, so I went ahead and bought the app on the Mac App Store. After many password resets, I found out that apparently, it was an issue with the website itself.

Anyway, now that I've bought the app, I hope this can be resolved so I can continue enjoying the convenience of 1password on BDO.

As an added note, the iOS app of BDO prevents pasting in its password field, so my only easy option is to login to my account on the Mac, since the password is now too long to easily enter manually in the iOS app. So I hope this issue on the Mac app gets fixed. Will also try to contact the developers of the BDO app to see if they can fix their app too.

PS. Hi @elbertlo‌, I think you're also a user on PhilMUG?

    Hi @jpacs2007,

Thanks for your report of this bug and mentioning that it's also a problem with Safari in addition to Chrome. I've passed the information along to our filling gurus. Sorry for the inconvenience this has been causing you!

@sjk‌, can I just check, so websites can actually edit the passwords saved in 1password?

The BDO website keeps replacing the saved password in asterisks, even if I just copy paste it.

    Hi @jpacs2007,

After creating a Login item for BDO Online Banking in the main 1Password application (see post #4 for an example), with auto-submit disabled, you should be able to use the workaround at the end of post #8 for manually copying/pasting the password. Seems a bit trickier to do with Chrome than Safari.

There are browser extensions that can reveal an obscured password field to check its value before submitting. I've sometimes used ShowPass - Canisbos with Safari to do that and am not familiar with what's similarly available for Chrome and Firefox.
