Safari plug in won't work!! [moved to email]
I've had the safari extension working well but suddenly it's stopped and no matter what I do I can't get it to install. I keep getting to this point.

Hey @charlie999
Just some thoughts off the top of my head until the staff stop by.
Silly question I know, you do have the app installed ? It seems to indicate that you do not.
I dont know if there would be correlation but do you have the beta of the app a stable extension installed ? or vise versa ?

Hi @charlie999,
Sorry you're having this trouble using the 1Password extension with Safari. Which version of the 1Password application is currently installed? And if you haven't restarted your Mac since the problem started, please give that a try and see if that fixes it. We'll dig deeper to find a solution if that doesn't help. Thanks!

Hi sorry only just spotted the replies notifications not on.
It's recognised it now after many uninstalls of the plug in and reboots but I find it a bit temprental.
I have the latest version of 1Password as I got it from the App Store and tried both normal and beta versions of the plug in.
How do you remove the plug in completely so I can try a full reinstall of the plug in.

Hi @charlie999
You can change your forum notifications here to be sure you don't miss any future replies to this thread.
To completely reinstall the Safari extension, please follow these steps:
- Open Safari.
- Click Safari > Preferences in the menu bar.
- Click the Extensions tab.
- Click "Uninstall" for the 1Password 4 extension.
- Restart your Mac.
- Launch Safari and visit the following page: https://agilebits.com/browsers/index.html
- Click the big green button, and follow the instructions on the new page to install the extension.
If you're still seeing temperamental behaviour from the extension, please let us know the version numbers of 1Password, your operating system, and Safari. (Version numbers, rather than "latest" could be helpful in pinpointing where things are getting tangled up.

Plug in 4.2.5
1Password 5.0
Safari 8.0
Yosemite 10.10I've removed it in that way several times and tried the Bera as well. Sometimes it's ok and others it's not. I've just tried again to log into my Facebook and noticed again that the plug in is not working.
I thought I may have to remove a few other files to get it off completely and try a reinstall.
Hope this helps!

Ok so I've just removed it as you described including the restart which I don't think I have done before and it's installed properly. I will use it now for a while and report back in a day or so if there is a problem or not.
Thanks for your help.

Hi @charlie999,
I'm so glad to hear that a restart got things behaving properly for you! I'm one of the worst people for leaving my laptop running far longer than I should - it's amazing how effective a quick little restart can get things behaving properly.
I hope it continues to behave properly for you, but you know where to find us if things go wonky again!

Well that didn't last long!!
Ok so this is what I did today.
Logged onto Mac then clicked on the 1Password mini icon up by the clock. I typed the password which opened the safe. Then I navigated to my Facebook login and selected it. This fired up safari on the Facebook page but it did not log me in.
The 1Password logo is in the tool bar of Safari so I clicked that at which it I got the same screen as in my original post. Basically it could not find the 1Password app even though I'd only unlocked it 5 seconds before!
Please help!!

Gone back to the Mac an hour or so later and all is working fine now. Have not touched anything!
Seems very temperamental.

Hi @charlie999,
It sounds like you might have two 1Password minis running at the same time interfering with each other.
If that’s accurate, you might see it happen again when the other mini runs. To confirm this theory, can you email us your diagnostic report to support+forum@agilebits.com with a link to this thread along with your forum username, so I can find it quickly.
Thanks!

OK noted but last night I read another thread about removing the extension by going into the safari extensions folder in Finder. When I did I saw 2 Extensions one with a "2" in the filename as you can't obviously have two files the same. I deleted them both, reinstalled and ok so far. Maybe they were vying for attention!

Thanks for letting us know that you've sorted it all out! :+1:
Please let us know if the problem reoccurs.
Cheers!

Hi @charlie999 I think it might be time for that diagnostic report that MikeT suggested. Check his post out for how to do so and what we need and fingers crossed we can discover why it's doing this. You've certainly been unlucky with it so far :(

I sent it in the day after it was suggested!

Apologies @charlie999 you're right. One of those moments where I've slipped up. I'll see about getting our devs involved as it's a tricky one.

Hi @charlie999,
I wonder if maybe the mini is crashing. Have you been prompted to send any crash reports? Can you check in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ to see if you have any files that would look like 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper_2014-10-29-152824_LogicBook2014.crash or 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper_2014-10-22-140303_LogicBook2014.crash? The last part of the filename doesn't matter as much as it's just a timestamp and your machine name.
If you do have some there, and you see that the timestamp on them looks recent, could you send us those in an email? Attach a link to this forum post so that we can connect the dots.

Sorry of the late reply I had not notice that this had been updated.
There were 6 crash logs. I have emailed them to support@agilebits.com linking with this post.
Thanks.

Thank you! I've merged the crash logs into the existing discussion.

So you've received my email? Just making sure I sent it to the right place!!

Yep! All set. Thanks.

Hi @charlie999,
I took a look at the crash logs that you sent, and they don't seem to be related to this. So there goes that theory. The next step would be to get a diagnostics report on the machine shortly after it has misbehaved. There may be info in there that can help us diagnose what's going on. When the mini can't do its job it tends to write info to the log file about why that is. We can see that in there. Can you run the diagnostic report creator and email that to us?

Just had it happen again so have emailed you a diagnostic report straight away.

Hi @charlie999,
Thanks for emailing the new report. I've added it to the current open ticket for Rick and/or other developers to take a look at.

Any sign of what might be my problem? I would say 75% of the time it works fine then suddenly you click on the logo in the browser and it can't find the 1Password mini!
Then either a reboot or sometimes just leaving it a while it works again.

Hi @charlie999,
I just responded to your email. Looks like something's disconnecting the safari extension from the mini. We'll try to get as much info as possible to see if there's a bug there and look into fixing it.
