After latest Yosemite update 1Password 5 cannot be started anymore

Last night I installed the latest Yosemite update which is 10.10.1. After the update 1Password is refusing to start. I get the message:
1Password 5 cannot be started because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure 1Password 5 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.

I am not convinced that a simple reinstallation will fix my problem. Is there a patch or update for this issue? Guess I am not the only one on this planet having this problem..... Is there some help?

    The simplest thing that will probably fix your problem is to do this:

    1. Drag the 1P app to the trash (don't use any app cleaner tool; make sure you delete only the app file).
    2. Empty the trash and reboot.
    3. Download and re-install 1P.

    There is no need to wait for any "patch". That ought to fix the problem. If it does not please post again.

    I'm sorry to hear that you've been having trouble with 1Password - please do let me know if you're still experiencing issues after downloading a fresh copy as @Stephen_C suggests.

    So I did how you suggested and it worked! 1Password 5 is running smoothly now. But I had to download it again from the AppStore (the first download was from your website, without iCloud sync I had to learn) as I am a heavy iCloud sync user because I use this gorgeous software on all of my Apple devices. This costed me 34 bucks but it was worth it from my perspective.
    I was convinced that the issue had something to do with the latest Yosemite release but I was wrong it was the software that crashed somehow...

    So many thanks for your kind support.

    I'm glad to hear you're up and running again. We're still none the wiser why some users are receiving this message about 1Password being incompatible. I'm a MAS user myself and my upgrade to 10.10.1 went without issue. Very odd.
