Adding Categories

is there a way I can add categories? For instance, I would like to have a category for Insurance Documents to put my medical, dental, optical, auto, and home owners policies into. I paid for the Pro Version but don't see an insurance category or how to make one.
Thanks.

There is currently no support for custom categories. (Don't read too much into "currently". I don't work for AgileBits and know nothing of their future plans. I do know a lot of people have asked for custom categories or something similar.)

Ty. That's unfortunate. Seems like it would be an easy addition that many would enjoy.

    A workaround that might help...

Use, for example, a Membership category, and add the necessary custom fields for an insurance policy. Name the item Insurance Template, and save the item. When you need a new insurance item, duplicate the Insurance Template item and change the values accordingly.

Seems like it would be an easy addition that many would enjoy.

When I look up into the night sky, those tiny lights seem so nearby and tiny. This notion couldn't be further from reality.

Thank you for your workaround. This is a good idea. But there is a disadvantage. The title is still Membership. How can I edit that? Is there a possibility?

The item can be titled anything, but the category name is fixed. You might like using Tags. Try adding a tag named, Insurance, and your insurance items will be listed as insurance under the Tags section.

This has to be the single most requested feature in 1Password. The developers have mentioned that it would be difficult because of the way 1Password is currently coded. As it stands 1Password is currently the best secure password manager I've tested. But this custom category thing has created a feature vacuum. By now word is out that 1Pass doesn't have custom categories and the feature is probably not going to get implemented any time soon. This opens the door for another dev to siphon market share from 1Pass. If it is in fact in development it would be in 1Pass's best interest to say so. If not it may be something the company may want to consider allocating resources to and prioritizing.

Thus far I've read some brilliant ideas for custom categories to manage personal information. I'm fairly certain that not too soon after custom category implementation this software will morph into a secure database solution for things that angelbits dev's never imagined.

@mvasilakis, thanks for your feedback about this! Custom categories are certainly one of the most requested features we hear about. Our developers would love to add that, but right now we just don't have any other information about when that would happen. We do appreciate how passionate our customers are about this, and I promise your voices are heard! :)
