Can't get license file, website only sends license key
IDK what has happened but I'm in some kind of weird loop. I have an 1Password 4 family license and the support form only sends a license key via email. 1Password 5 is asking for a license file. I've always upgraded from a previous version, but I don't know if that's relevant.
When I put the key into the upgrade form, it says I have a "Family License for 1Password 5 for Mac"
I have no idea what to do next.

Jason,
On the email do you not see a
Register: With 1Password downloaded, click here to automatically add your license
section?
If not I'll send you a message with the link.
Thanks.

Hello Jason and Mr. Woodruff!
I'm seeing the same thing.
And I do not see a 'Register: With 1Password downloaded, click here to automatically add your license' in the email either.

As you can see in the screen-capture, that's the email I got. The section that says "Register: With 1Password downloaded, click here to automatically add your license" is there; however - it's not a clickable hyperlink. Click where exactly? :(
Please, fix this issue.
Never mind. Fixed it myself. Gotta click on "View the complete installation steps", that'll take you to the necessary file. :D

Actually, mine says that too. But like that CrazyIndianGuy said, mine is also not clickable.

Please click the option for
View the complete installation steps

Doh! Thanks Sir! Worked like a charm! :smiley:

When I ask to have my license key sent, it only sends version 3 keys. I pulled up the email from my original version 4 license and it has the link and I was able to download the license file.
Totally confusing.

Hi, I am having a similar issue. I want to enter a license key, but of course for Mac I have to instead click a license file. When I request my license, I only receive the key. Unlike the users above, I am not given the option to View the Complete Installation Steps.
Just FYI, here are the instructions from your website. Are they up to date? Because so far they don't seem to be matching up with what I'm experiencing. For example, I don't have a license file: https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-mac-kb/4/en/topic/adding-a-license-to-1password
Also, do you think it's a little misleading that the email I got says I can select preferences and paste in the license key when that is evidently not how you add a license to the Mac version?

@kmaccorkle you have been sent a licence key for 1P3. You need a licence file for 1P4. Did you ever pay for the upgrade to 1P4 from 1P3 (it was not free)? If you did and if you bought from the AgileBits store (as opposed to the Mac App Store) do this. Send an email to support+licenses @ agilebits.com with the following information:
- your full name;
- your full address when you purchased 1P4;
- the approximate date you bought 1P4;
- the email address you used when you purchased 1P4;
- a link to this thread.
You will receive an automatic response with a ticket number. Post that number in this thread, which will help AgileBits connect the two.

Hi @kmaccorkle
I can only find a 1Password 3 purchase associated with either the email address you use here in the forums or based on your name (retrieved after discovering your 1Password 3 purchase). Now if you have purchased 1Password 4 under a different email address and name (possibly as a result if a typo) then that would be one reason why I could not find a 1Password 4 licence. The other option is you purchased 1Password 4/5 from Apple's Mac App Store (MAS) as we cannot see any details of any purchase - Apple simply do not share.
If you're positive you have indeed purchased 1Password 4/5 from us then Stephen_C's post is what we would recommend. If you're in doubt over what email address you have have used though please supply any possible one and we will try them all for you.
