iPad version still asks for both 4 digit unlock and master password

On my iPad Air, I still have the problem of 1Password asking me for my 4 digit quick unlock and then immediately asking for my full master password. After the 5.1.2 update, this stopped happening on my iPhone 5s but still continues with the iPad Air.

  • Hi @rqc‌

Please login with your Master Password then in the Security settings of 1Password change your PIN. Please see if that helps.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried it and I think that may have fixed it. By this time tomorrow, I should know if it's truly resolved - hope so! Again, thanks.

    Hi @rqc‌,

That's good news, I'm happy it seems to be working now! If you run into more problems with that, please let us know. Thanks! :)

In further testing, it continues to work. Now I understand that the deeper issue was that the 4 digit PIN code wasn't really being accepted (maybe add a invalid code "screen shake" for feedback?) and that's why it always brought up the request for the full master password and furthermore probably any 4 digit PIN code was going to fail the same way until the code was set again. I just misunderstood that the root of the problem was the 4 digit PIN was not being accepted. Since I never try invalid codes, I didn't know what the behavior was like in a failure situation.

@rqc‌ thanks for letting us know! You're right, it should be more obvious when the PIN code is entered incorrectly. I can definitely see how that can be confusing, and I'll be happy to send your feedback to our developers. Hopefully this will be clearer in future versions.
