Mac License?
Hi,
I really wish there was a support e-mail address for this, but there doesn't seem to be, so I guess I'll post my question on here.
I've been using 1Password since May and have never had any issues. I first got 1Password (4, I believe) from the Mac app store, and liked it so much, I bought it from the app store for my phone for $17 or $18 so that I could sync my passwords from my computer to my phone.
I haven't had any trouble until this week. I got a notification that my 30 day trial on my Mac was up, and I have to purchase a license.
I have been using 1Password for much longer than the 30 day "trial" period. So I did some research.
It looks to me like now, the iPhone app is free, but the Mac app is paid. This was the opposite when I first started using 1Password.
So after having bought the app originally, now I have to buy a license, when people who have not used the program can come and get just the license, and save the money that I paid originally. This does not seem fair to me at all.
You are making a customer who has been with you longer, pay more money.
I have given the company numerous referrals, and have sung the praises of 1Password since I discovered it, and now am being "thanked" by having to pay more to use it. I can assure you I will not be using it if I have to pay for a license, and would rather copy and paste my passwords from a note.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

With respect to the trial expired message, have you looked at the first post at the top of this section of the forum? Here is a direct link. It explains what to do in most of the cases I've read about here in the forums. If you have a valid license to version 4, you will not have to pay again to update to version 5, as long as you continue to use the same Apple ID that you used for your original purchase. If you purchased from the AgileBits web store instead of the Mac App Store, the same applies, but you will need to apply the license file that was emailed to you by AgileBits when you made the buy.
Although the basic iOS application is now free, full use of all of the Pro features requires a $9.99 in-app purchase, so it isn't actually free. Freemium is the term such pricing seems to go by. As a prior user, you should get those Pro features for no extra charge when you update to version 5. So I'm not entirely sure what your pricing issues are. Prices change all the time in the software game. If you felt you got good value for your use, then you were treated fairly.

I am in a similar situation to Aristen, except I bought the iOS app first and then decided to get the desktop app. Because I was an existing 1Password 4 customer the version 5 upgrade was free. I did have to stop using iCloud sync and switch to Dropbox, which wasn't as easy a switch as it should have been. So although I wasn't happy, the switch was done and I was able to use the program across platforms as before, until today. Today I received the "Trial Expired" message and now have limits on the desktop program. When I enter my email to find a license nothing comes up, so I must not have purchased it through the AgileBits store. So now do I have to spend $34.99 just to regain functionality I have had all along? Maybe I'm not fully understanding the process, but it is not for a lack of trying. I have spent a decent amount of time on this site trying to work out what to do next, but cannot get a clear answer. If the answer is that I have to pay again just for access while at my desktop, I will regretfully stop using it and just work from my mobile devices because that price would be just too much to justify. If I am misunderstanding I would appreciate it being cleared up. Thank you.

Hi guys,
1Password for iOS and for Mac are two separate purchases. If you purchased 1Password 4 for iOS or its Pro Features since 1Password 5, you can use 1Password for iOS on all your iOS devices.
Please note that 1Password for Mac is a separate purchase. If you purchased 1Password 4 for Mac you can use the same license for 1Password 5 for Mac, simply add the license in 1Password 5 and you're all set.
If you no longer have the email we sent you when you first purchased your license, please visit our support page, enter your email address in the I've lost my license box, and we will send your licenses via email. Please make sure you enter the same email address you used when purchasing 1Password.
If you haven't purchased 1Password 4 or 1Password 5 for Mac yet, you can either purchase it from our website or from the Mac App Store
For more information please visit to the Trial Expired notice in 1Password 5 for Mac topic that @hawkmoth shared in his initial reply.
Hope that this helps and please de let us know if there's anything else we can do to help.
Cheers!
