Upgrading OSX from Snow Leopard to Yosemite and 1P from 3 to 5
I'd like some guidance please on what I must do to upgrade my system. Currently:
OSX - 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), 1P - 3.8.22
Targets:
Yosemite and 1P 5
Do I need to purchase another license for 1P 5? How do I ensure that all my 1P 3 password data is preserved and carried over to 1P 5? Do I need to upgrade to 1P 4 on the way to 1P 5? What is the proper sequence of steps?
If this is already documented in detail somewhere, point me there and I'll repost any questions after reading. Thanks.

HI @marklme
You will need a new licence I'm afraid. 1Password 4 was a paid upgrade from 1Password 3 however using your 1Password 3 licence key will get you a discount if you purchase 1Password from our store. Now if iCloud support is important to you then you'd want to consider purchasing 1Password from Apple's Mac App Store as only applications purchased through them can make use of CloudKit which is what the new iCloud sync uses.
Now as for your upgrading. You won't need to update to 1Password 4 first, you can skip it and simply download 1Password 5 because of how Mac programs generally work. Equally getting your information into 1Password 5 from 1Password 3 is easy. As long as your 1Password 3 files are where they normally are then 1Password 5 will find them and import them. If i does't do it automatically you can still tell 1Password that you're an existing user and point it to your keychain.
That last part does assume you update your existing copy of Snow Leopard rather than wiping the drive and performing a clean installation. An update should leave your Library folder alone and so your .agilekeychain will still be there. If you want to make a second backup of your agilekeychain then you can find it by looking in 1Password 3's preferences (see the image below).
In general though, it's a wise idea to have a complete backup of your drive that you can return to if things go wrong. So while you can copy just your agilekeychain a full backup is strongly advisable.
Does that help at all? If you have more questions please do post.

Thanks - that seems pretty straightforward. I'll post how it went when I complete the upgrades.
