I am running 1Password 5.0.2 for Mac and every so often I am asked to be updated because I am running version 4.4.2

If you do a Spotlight search for 1Password on your Mac does the result show more than one copy of the app?

No, I have just one copy on my main hard drive... but on an external hard drive backup there is 1Password 4.4.2, would that be the reason?

Yes, I think that is the reason. There is a problem with Yosemite which brightly wanders off and discovers random copies of the application on any drive connected to your Mac. Others have reported a work around which involves ensuring Spotlight does not index the backup drive and then rebooting. You might see if that solves your problem (which I suspect would also be resolved by detaching the backup drive...but I suspect you don't wish to do that).

Ah, Spotlight that is most likely the reason... thank you.

Hi @Lynn Roylance‌ I'm glad Stephen_C was able to get you sorted. I also liked his choice of words in describing Yosemite's brilliant new behaviour
