You could try dragging the app file to the trash (don't use any app cleaner tool), empty the trash, reboot, re-download and re-install. This has helped others with a similar problem.

Where did you download from: the Mac App Store or direct from AgileBits? What is your OS X version number?

I have one other thought. If you go to the OS X (not 1P) Settings > Security and Privacy what setting do you have under Allow apps downloaded from:?

  • Hi @Ran1809,

I'm sorry that you're having this issue. Can you post the exact error message you're getting? This way we'll have a better idea where to look.

ran, i have the same problem but have gotten zero response on how to fix it yet. did you figure this out?

  • Hi guys,

Please try this again, it has fixed majority of the reports we saw:

    1. Open your Applications folder.
    2. Locate the 1Password 5.app in the list.
    3. Drag it to the trash can. Please don't use any uninstaller applications, these may remove more than just the application, such as your data. We do not recommend that. We only want to remove the application, none of the extra items.
    4. After dragging it to the trash, empty your trash, then reboot your computer.
    5. After the reboot, download a fresh copy of 1Password 5 from here: https://agilebits.com/downloads
    6. Once downloaded, unzip if necessary and drag it to the Applications folder. Then double click to run it. Or, if you use the Mac App Store version, re-download 1Password from the Mac App Store purchased page.

If that doesn't work, please email us a Diagnostics Report from your Mac, along with a link to this discussion and your forum username, to: support+forum@agilebits.com

@mgorte‌ I see MikeT has responded to you in your thread. If you can let us know in that thread if his steps helped you or not and we can take it from there.

Your issue is very different from Ran1809's though so I'm going to close this thread. This way we can keep suggestions particular to your issue in one place and stop the possibility of duplicate or conflicting suggestions from making it worse.
