Trial expired?

You don't need a licence file if you bought 1P4 or 1P5 from the Mac App Store: see this sticky at the top of the forum. I'm not sure why you'd receive that message if you bought from the Mac App Store. Did you ever use an AgileBits beta version?

Hi @cecilia,
As @Stephen_C mentioned, you shouldn't be getting any kind of "trial expired" message if you're using the Mac App Store version of 1Password (please make sure you've read the information from the link he gave you). To check that, open the main 1Password app and go to the menu for 1Password > About 1Password. The window should say Mac App Store or Agile Web Store.
If you're using the Mac App Store version and seeing a Trial Expired message, try restarting your Mac.
If you're using the Agile Web Store version, but you purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store, you need to reinstall 1Password 5 from the Mac App Store.
On the other hand, if you purchased the iOS version of 1Password, but not the Mac version, that's why you're getting a "trial expired" message. Please let us know what you find, and we'll take it from there. Thanks!

So apparently I bought the iOS version. Nowhere on the description when I downloaded it did it say I would have to pay 50 dollars to make it work on my Mac, too!!! That is an extremely poor experience. You know, I might have been willing to buy it if that had been obvious up front, but now I feel like I've had the bait and switch. In fact, in the iOS description, it talks about the wonderful syncing between iOS and mac, but nowhere does it say I will have to pay twice for that feature. I've been using this for months, and it never once popped anything up saying it was a trial version. I never got ANY notice of any kind that it would be requiring $50 from me at some point.
I'm very upset about this.

It must been only a month. Sorry for the hyperbole. I'm still pretty upset by the lack of transparency when coming through the iOS path. When going through the website and the Mac App Store, it seems to be obvious, but it is NOT obvious if you first buy the app, and download later.

Hi @cecilia
I'm so sorry for the frustration here. We do our best to advise users that 1Password is a separate purchase for each platform, however, there is a lot of information about the product available, so I can see how you might have missed it. Just to be sure, I took a quick look in the description of 1Password in the iOS App Store, and it does mention that:
Award winning 1Password also available for Mac, PC, and more, sold separately
We certainly didn't mean to mislead you, and again, you have my apologies that you feel that we did.
