confusion with mac auto fill

Say I have put my soundcloud login details into 1 password - well when I go there iCloud / autofill already logs me in from its previous knowing my login. Is the idea here that I remove my login details for this particular site from iCloud/autofill?
Regarding the above - if I do remove this one from safari autofill - each time I go to this site Safari will keep asking me "do I want autofill in safari to save this site" - to stop this I would need to turn off autofill altogether - but isn't it useful to use autofill for somethings still (that don't need same security as 1 password provides)

That's what I did although it can be handy to leave one in there that might allow you to rebuild a system easily e.g. Dropbox.

I'm not sure about your second question but I always thought you had the option to say never to Safari for individual sites.

    Hi @100mark‌,

    Thanks for your help @Penelope Pitstop‌ :+1:

@100mark‌ if you don't want to be prompted by Safari to save new logins anymore you need to disable AutoFill user names and passwords in Safari's Preferences > Passwords. This will not only disable the save prompts but also auto fill using Safari's logins. I don't think that there is a way to select the sites you want safari to auto fill or save.

    Hope that this helps!

    Cheers!

Thanks. I also wasn't sure about Safari Keychain's role. I'm disabling it.

The login info might already be stored in Safari. You also want to go to Preferences > Passwords and do a search for the web site and delete the existing info.

  • Just to also chime in as an addition to @Penelope Pitstop‌'s comment about being able to set up a system quickly again, you should keep your Apple ID and Dropbox (if you use it for sync) passwords handy for a rebuild. I've found the 1Password Emergency Kit to be a good use for this. Just be sure to store it in a safe place.
