I'm afraid the OS X and iOS versions are separate purchases—or, to be more precise, the Pro in-app purchase for 1P for iOS is a separate purchase to 1P for OS X.

@skimax @Stephen_C is absolutely right. We have a free version on iOS which offers an InApp-purchase to unlock Pro features. These are indeed separate purchases. But depending on your needs you might be fine without the Pro features.

Since the main thread about pro features not working is closed -- (sort of missing the point of a forum, but whatever), perhaps someone will pay attention to me here? So, I bought 1Password for iOS back when it wasn't a free app. According to the website, I don't need to pay again for the Pro Features, but I'm not getting them when I restore purchase. According to the instructions in the closed thread, I tried deleting the app and installing it from the phone directly... alright, did that. Still nothing. Fine. What it I try to pay for the pro features and duke it out with Agilebits later? Nope... that doesn't work either. Prompts for my AppleID password, which I supply, then goes away. So, um... help? I should mention that trying to restore the features the app displays [Environment: sandbox] which sounds sort of like a development scrap. (see image) Is the app fully cooked?

Not sure why this didn't post with my last post, so giving it another shot...

  • Hi Jeremy

I'm very sorry for the trouble. You've run into a bug in iOS. We have filed a bug with Apple, but unfortunately it doesn't appear there is anything we're able to do until Apple releases an update with the fix.

    My apologies

Hmm. Well that stinks. I decided to jump in and invest in the product, just spent $50 bucks for the OSX app (not sure what happened- button said $34.99 and I got charged $49.99- another Apple bug?) I was hoping to organize and really commit to the product and feel trapped and a bit robbed. Can you please confirm that when resolved that I'll still get the pro features without needing to pay another ransom? Some shady financial doin's going on here... :(. Lot of money for a lot of bugs!

Y'know... the more I think about it, the more I'm not happy. Having to pay money, only to be relegated to community-type self-support and essentially be told to work alongside other customers to debug software that clearly skipped a beta-testing cycle is not cool. Who can I express the dissatisfaction to? I'm ready to jump ship, and sure could use some motivation to stay, or some money back.

If you wish to have a refund for an application purchased from Apple, you will need to approach Apple about that. In my experience, they do issue refunds, at least sometimes, even though their policy says they don't.

    Hi Jeremy,

I'm so sorry you've had such trouble with all of this! We definitely don't like for our customers to have this kind of experience. :(

Regarding the price of the Mac version: $34.99 was the sale price, but the sale ended last week so I'm not sure why you would have still seen that price if you made the purchase in the last few days. Is it possible you had opened a page showing that price while the sale was still on, but didn't make the purchase until after the sale ended?

Either way, if you were charged a different price that what it showed when you placed your order, we'll be happy to help you out with that. Please send your email receipt to support+licenses@agilebits.com along with a link to this thread, we'll see what we can do. A short note here once you've done that will help us keep an eye out for it.

As for the Pro Features in 1Password 5 for iOS: You said you paid for an older version before the basic app was free. Did you purchase 1Password 3 for iOS or 1Password 4 for iOS? If you previously bought version 4 for iOS, the Pro Features in version 5 are absolutely free for you. If you purchased version 3 (but not version 4), the Pro Features in version 5 are not free and require an in-app purchase. We have more information in our Pro Features FAQ.

If you bought version 3 but not version 4, and want to unlock the Pro Features, you'll need to tap the button to make the in-app purchase. If you do that but get an error, please let us know.

If you bought version 4 for iOS and get the [Environment: Sandbox] error when you try to restore Pro Features, there's not much we can do because that's an iOS bug, unfortunately. However, you can follow these steps to see if it helps:

    • First, open the Settings app and go to iTunes & App Store.
    • Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    • Next, double-click the Home button and swipe up on the 1Password app to close it.
    • Restart your iOS device (hold down the power button for a few seconds and "slide to power off", then turn it back on again).
    • After the restart, go back to Settings > iTunes & App Store and sign in with your Apple ID email and password.
    • Open 1Password and try again to restore the Pro Features.

Please let us know how it all goes for you, and if you have any questions about that. Thanks! :)

Also, Jeremy, as you can see the forum is NOT just "community type self-support". the people from AgileBits look at the forums very regularly and respond to queries. It's just that currently they find this better and faster than direct email support for the most part.

@Drew_AG, Thank you for your response. I owe a bit of an apology, as at least a small part of my frustration is attributed to the fact that I spent a good many hours collecting and organizing all my online identities with the plan to attack a long prolonged project of committing to a password management solution, only to be stymied. @danco, I'll retract my statement. As someone who's quite accustomed to being directed to "the forum" by other companies, it's almost always synonymous with "misery loves company." Clearly not the case here; mea culpa.

    SO... anyhow.
Drew, I just now sent an email as you directed above. I can assure you that I booted up my Macbook freshly on the morning I decided to purchase the OSX version of the app (12/4/14). I was definitely shown the $34.99 price. (I had just added an iTunes $75.00 credit to my account, and after purchase I was surprised to see only $25.01 remained, where I expected $40.01 in its place.) I'm not sure what you can do about this, but I appreciate your consideration.

As for the Pro features and the iOS app -- I have to admit, now you have me wondering whether I previously owned iOS version 3 or 4. I tried looking through my purchase history but can't find it easily, and I've long discarded any e-mails since I never thought I'd need to look back on them. No worries... I'd still purchase the pro features (if only I could...) I've tried your suggestion above, logging out, restarting, logging in, but it didn't help. I also tried again to delete the app and reinstall from the phone directly and that didn't help either. Reading some other Apple forums almost suggest that it's a problem with the App knowing which ID I'm using -- So I even tried staying signed out, then initiating the download, which prompts me to login -- the app tells me I have a bad password (I don't) and then ultimately tells me that my ID wasn't recognized. Adding to my further frustration is that I can see that you've dropped the price on the Pro version to 5.99. (Cool, so even if I DO have to buy them, at least it's 4 bucks cheaper...) but I can't purchase them, and I imagine the price drop is temporary.

Can't catch a break! Thanks for your thoughts and help.

    Hi Jeremy,

No problem, I know this has all been pretty frustrating for you! I completely understand and I'm sure I'd feel the same way.

We've received your email about the issue with the price of the Mac version, and someone from the support team will get back to you as soon as possible about that. Thanks for your patience! :)

I'm going to see if anyone else here has more suggestions for the [Environment: Sandbox] error you're getting. In the meantime, you might want to try contacting Apple yourself to see if they're able to help you with that (I can't guarantee they can help, but it couldn't hurt to check with them).
