Trial Expired notice
I have 1Password 5 but recently it started giving me a trial expired notice. I looked at the instructions here but can't do a copy and paste to update the software license info. When I go to Software License it either gives me the option to download the old version (3) and provides the license info. How do I fix this please?

Hi @joefroh,
It sounds like you may have already read this post, but just in case ... our ** Trial Expired notice in 1Password 5 for Mac?** should provide a good outline of your options.
but can't do a copy and paste to update the software license info.
You're right, 1Password 5 requires a license file, not a license key. I took a look in our back office records using the email address attached to your forum account, and I was able to locate a license for 1Password 3. As is stated in the post I linked to above, the upgrade from 1Password 3 to 1Password 4 was a paid upgrade, but not all users were properly prompted to update their license. Is it possible that you didn't purchase an upgrade to 1Password 4? If so, you can upgrade now by entering your 1Password 3 license details on our upgrade page.
If you do think that you purchased an upgrade to 1Password 4, please let me know some alternate names/email addresses that you might have made the purchase under, and I'll see if I can locate your license details in our system. (You're welcome to send those details by private message if you would prefer to not post them here.)

Hey Megan: Went back and checked and the support files say that upgrade 3 to 4 was a free upgrade for existing users and same info is on your website. I copied this from the website and existing info verifies to customers that upgrades to 5 are the same.
I need a license file it appears and can't understand why I should pay if the info above is accurate and it comes from your website support.
Thanks,
Joe"If I have a 1Password 3 license from the AgileBits website, can I buy the Mac App Store version of 1Password? If yes, do I still get a free upgrade to 1Password 4?
You sure can! 1Password 4 will be released as a free update to 1Password 3 in the Mac App Store.Instructions for transitioning from the website version to the App Store version can be found here: //bit.ly/11fKZqW
What if I want to use the website version?
We think the Mac App Store is pretty awesome and recommend that you purchase there. However, all 1Password purchases from our site in 2013 will be eligible for the free upgrade. If you bought your copy long ago, now is your chance to make sure you get in on version 4 when it’s released!0 -
See this page in the knowledge base, which includes the following:
When 1Password 4 was released in October of 2013 we offered an unprecedented, nine-month, free upgrade window. That means if you purchased 1Password 3 for Mac at any time in 2013 (January 1, 2013 or later), you are eligible for a free upgrade.
I wonder whether your purchase was within the relevant time frame.

Hi @joefroh,
I hope that @Stephen_C's explanation here is helpful - that is the correct explanation of our upgrade policy from 1Password 3 to 1Password 4. This policy is also described in the quote you mention:
However, all 1Password purchases from our site in 2013 will be eligible for the free upgrade [to 1Password 4].
I took a look in our back office records and found a purchase for 1Password 3 attached to the email address you used for your forum account. Unfortunately, it was purchased outside of the free upgrade window for 1Password 4.
If you decide you'd like to upgrade your license of 1Password, just head on over to our upgrade page and enter your 1Password 3 license details in the field to see the discount you are entitled to on a shiny new 1Password 5 license.
I hope this helps, but we're here if you have any further questions or concerns!

Don't know exact date of purchase but looks like I purchased Version 3 in December 2012 and then bought another version for my iPhone. Only remedy is to buy upgrade?

Hi @joefroh
That is correct. It looks like you've already gotten this sorted out, but if I'm incorrect in that or if there is anything else we can do to help, please let us know!
We appreciate your support of 1Password. We're a software development company, and so the only way we stay in business is selling software. Without the support of yourself and others like you we wouldn't be able to continue to make software like 1Password. :)
Thanks!
