New master password didn't sync from Mac to iOS via Dropbox

Hi There,
I am having the same issue with DropBox. I updated my master password on my iMac (5.0.2) and 1password on my iPhone (5.1.2) still required the old password. I manually updated the password on my iPhone and it is working correctly, however having the master password sync when it is changed is important.
Thanks.

Hi @DemetersRest,
I moved your message to a new discussion because this is technically a different issue if you're using Dropbox sync.
Do other changes to 1Password sync correctly between your Mac and iPhone? If so, and if you change your master password again in the future, please follow these steps on your iPhone:
- Unlock 1Password on your iPhone with the old master password
- Allow it to fully sync
- Once the sync is complete, go to Settings > Security > Lock Now
- Try to unlock 1Password with the new master password
The reason you need to do this is because the 1Password app doesn't sync until it's unlocked. Once it syncs, then it will have the new master password.
Sorry for any confusion about that! If you have more questions, just let us know.

Hi Drew_AG,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I understand how the first time would need to use the original password, however even after syncing the master password on the iPhone remained unchanged. I left it for a few weeks - no update to the master password. I also noticed an issue today where I updated an existing login on my iMac (added a username that was previously left blank) and despite syncing, the username never appeared on my iPhone. I confirmed that the dropbox file was the same one being used on all devices (there's only one 1password file in my dropbox).
Unsure what else to do to ensure my data was consistent across all devices I disabled sync on all my devices but left the program running on my iMac. I changed the sync process to iCloud then opened 1Password on all iOS devices and my macbook air. Everything appears to have synced correctly and the 1 master password was able to be used to unlock the program on every device.
I like to update my master password at the start of every month - I presume if I follow your instructions above I should not have any sync issues with my master password?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @DemetersRest,
If other changes weren't syncing from your Mac to your iPhone, there was probably an issue with Dropbox sync in general, not just with the new master password.
I'm glad to hear things are working correctly after switching to iCloud sync! As mentioned in the previous thread, there's currently a known issue with master password changes not syncing over iCloud, but that should be fixed sometime soon. Once that's fixed, my instructions above should work to make sure the new master password syncs to 1Password on your iOS devices. I'm sorry for the inconvenience!
If you have more questions or need anything else, we're here for you! :)
