Sites that are now masking userid's or have secondary pages to enter passwords
Hey folks,
I wanted to see if anyone else has notices the increase in sites that now mask the userid when logging on and this appears to cause 1password some confusion and in addition sites that have a primary logon page - which then moves to a secondary page where you enter a password - this is also causing 1password issues. Is this an issue for other folks ? Is there a work around ? Or is this something the great folks at agilebits is already aware of and are just about to release a patch/fix :) ??

Hi @Tony H
Thanks for writing. We already have a guide on the latter situation:
I honestly haven't seen much of the former, but I'd suspect that they are achieving this masking by defining the username field as a password field, which I would indeed suspect as a source of issues for 1Password. Do you have a few examples of sites that do this?

@bwoodruff fidelity.com does this (right on the home page login form at the upper left). I think they're using JavaScript to mask the first part of the input string after the user exits the username field. It's very annoying, and it causes problems for 1Password. I haven't bothered to look at the JavaScript, but they're probably squirreling away the non-redacted username in some hidden field.

Hi @sniglets,
Thanks for mentioning this problem with fidelity.com. It's a known issue and I've included your report of it with the bug in our tracker.
A workaround is clicking in the entered Username field to reveal it before manually saving a Login item so the asterisks won't be saved. And creating a Login item for the page in the main application should also work.

Thanks I will try the first work around - and yes I have the same issue with Fidelity and a couple of other sites... Any idea when the bug will be resolved- just asking :)

Hi @Tony H,
I hope the workaround works well for you! Now, we've got a great team of filling gurus working to help 1Password fill properly on a myriad of sites. We'll do what we can to have this site behaving just as soon as possible. I can't give you much of a timeframe here, but I will let our developers know that Fidelity is important to you. :)

That workaround worked for me.

I see you've discovered one of the little joyous tricks the Fidelity site plays. I mentioned this my response to your other post but I see you've already stumbled upon it @Easepod
