iTunes backup password changed to 1Password password...
This is really weird. I am on a new computer. A windows 7 laptop. It has never had 1password installed. I did previously use 1Password on a mac, but not recently. I do use 1password on iphone and ipad. 8.1, most recently. it syncs via dropbox. i use touch id to unlock 1password.
i wanted to upgrade to 8.1.2 on my iphone. go through process of restore. come to restore backup stage and the password that i know is correct, because i have used it successfully for 8.1 does not work. i start freaking out. i search online. bunch of people saying it was their wifi or e-mail password. seems like they are idiots who don't remember setting this password.
i remember mine. it is unique to the itunes backup. it is written down.
i try all possible passwords in desperation. windows login, e-mail, etc. finally i try the 1password password. and it works. the relief is palpable.
still. how could that happen? something with touch id? madness.
i would have sent this as e-mail, but i couldn't find any other way to contact you.

Hi @melchior,
Just to make sure I understand: Do you mean you restored your entire iPhone from a full device backup in iTunes, or were you restoring just the 1Password app from a manual backup of your 1Password data that had been made using iTunes File Sharing?
If you were specifically restoring a 1Password backup file to the 1Password app, it would make sense that it required your master password. But if you mean you were restoring the entire device from an encrypted backup in iTunes, and only your master password from 1Password worked, I'm afraid I don't have an explanation for that. There's no connection between 1Password and the "Encrypt iPhone backup" option in iTunes. Is it possible that you chose a new password for your iPhone backup since the last time you did that? That's the only thing I can think of.
I'm sorry I don't have a better explanation or theory for you! If you have more questions about that, please let us know.

Thanks for the reply. My apologies for not replying sooner myself, but I wasn't notified of a reply and it quickly slipped down my list of thought priorities.
I was restoring a full backup of all iOS data after updating to 8.1.2.
The only additional information that I neglected to mention was that all of my passwords on iOS disappeared and had to be re-entered.
Everything is working now, I just do not trust the iTunes backup as I had before. I have experienced a corrupt backup before and when I thought that was the case here, I was very concerned, but at least that was not the case.
As for the explanation of the password, I absolutely swear that it is not possible that I ever entered the password for 1password into iTunes. I know it is the only logical explanation, but it is simply not the case.
Not expecting a resolution, just throwing it out there as I had read some similarly odd reports.

Thanks for letting us know @melchior (and I'm sorry you didn't get a notification of my reply, not sure what happened there).
I know exactly what you mean about restoring from an iTunes backup - I recently got a new iPhone and did the same thing, and my 1Password data was not restored. We've heard reports of that happening when restoring from an iCloud backup, too. That's why we strongly recommend making a backup of your 1Password data using iTunes File Sharing - or at the very least, using one of the sync options in 1Password.
Hopefully everything is fine for you now, but let us know if you need anything else. Happy New Year!
