1Password 4 / 5 syncing incompatibility
Hi,
Only recently I noticed that 1Password 5 switched a a Yosemite-only syncing method, which is not compatible with 1Password 4.
I have one computer running OS X 10.9 that I don't want to switch over to Yosemite, while I have another with Yosemite, and latest iOS devices as well.
Is there a way to sync the 1Password 4 in OS X 10.9 with the other machines?
Thanks!

Hello @AriGato,
Thanks for taking the time to write to us
I am assuming that you are referring to iCloud sync between 1Password 4 for Mac on OS X Mavericks and 1Password 5 for Mac on OS X Yosemite. If that's the case, iCloud sync will no longer work between them, because iCloud changed considerably in Yosemite and iOS8. To learn more, please refer to our blog post about iCloud changes in 1Password 5
The only available sync options between 1Password 4 for Mac on OS X Mavericks and 1Password 5 for Mac on OS X Yosemite are Dropbox sync and Folder Sync.
Hope that this helps.
Cheers!

Hi @AriGato,
Thanks for getting back to us :+1:
So it should be ok to use an external USB drive to sync between 1Password 4 on one Mac and 1Password 5 on another Mac?
Yes, you can sync your data to a USB drive using Folder sync. It is supported in both 1Password 4 and 1Password 5 for Mac.
I can then afterwards switch the 1Password 5 back to syncing with iCloud?
We recommend that you choose the sync solution that suits you the best. Changing the sync solution may sometimes lead to problems. If you wish to sync via iCloud, note you cannot sync between 1Password 4 and 1Password 5 for Mac, you need 1Password 5 for Mac from the Mac App Store on both your Macs. Please refer to our blog post for further information about iCloud Changes in 1Password 5.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help
