iOS upgrade triggers iCloud snag
I think I've identified a bug pattern. I'm fairly new to 1Password, but there have been two iOS upgrades since I've adopted it. I have iCloud running the sync between my laptop and phone. Both times I have upgraded iOS, my iCloud password from the 1Password database has been returned as incorrect. The same password appears in 1Password on my laptop (and so is – I'm fairly sure!) not incorrect. I assumed last time that I'd introduced some error, so gave up and chose a new password ... everything ran smoothly again. New iOS out today, and the stored password has been rejected again. Is this only me? And any clues as to what's going on? Thank you!

HI @brinley,
I'm not quite sure I understand the problem you described, can you please elaborate? Do you mean you have a Login item for your iCloud account, and it shows your current/correct iCloud password, but after an iOS update it changes itself to an old/incorrect password? Or are you trying to re-enable iCloud sync in 1Password but it won't accept your vault password? Or is your iCloud password correct as shown in 1Password, but doesn't work if you copy & paste it in order to sign into your iCloud account? Or something else?
Also, you mentioned you "gave up and chose a new password". Which password are you referring to - your iCloud / Apple ID password, or your master password to unlock 1Password?
If you can give us some more details about the steps you're taking and what happens, that should give us a better idea of what's going on so we can help figure it out. Thanks! :)

I think it's the third query you set out above, but I can't be sure. Here's the scenario:
- iCloud is syncing all apps properly between laptop and phone;
- iOS upgrade installs without hitch but on the first boot and with no other changes made
- iCloud now rejects the password that 1Password has stored for it in both laptop and phone
This has happened twice but did not happen before I was running 1Password.
There are a lot of variables in there, but that's the pattern.
The way I solved it last time was to reset the iCloud password, assuming that I had done something to change it inadvertently. But the exact same pattern only a few weeks later has me thinking that there's something else afoot.

Well, that got odder. Following hints on Apple's discussion board, I typed the stored iCloud password into the required field and lo, it worked. But cutting-and-pasting exactly the same string (a default workflow using 1Password) had failed. This is looking increasingly like an iCloud quirk rather than anything 1Password control. But you might still like to know that this is happening, so you can advise others.

HI @brinley,
Thanks for the additional information! I'm still a bit confused about this part:
- iCloud now rejects the password that 1Password has stored for it in both laptop and phone
Where/when exactly is this happening, and what do you see? For example, are you entering your password when trying to make a purchase in the App Store, and you receive an error message telling you the password is wrong? What is the exact error message?
Or do you mean you automatically see an error message about your password as soon as you boot your device after an iOS update? Does the same error appear if you reboot the device again?
You also mentioned that you've tried changing your iCloud / Apple ID password. Please keep in mind that after changing your iCloud password on Apple's site, you'll also need to update your iCloud password in your 1Password login item for iCloud.
If manually typing your iCloud password works, but you get an error if you copy & paste it from 1Password, it sounds like the wrong password is saved in 1Password. Please check that by opening 1Password, going to the Categories section, and finding/viewing your login item for iCloud. If the password is concealed, tap on it and then choose Reveal to see the password. Is it different or does it look like it matches what you manually typed?
