Trial expired problem 1Password 5

I have gone through all on line instructions. They haven't worked. Started with 1pw 3. Upgraded to 4 than 5. I now get the trial expired message. The license key sent to me was for 1pw 3 and only offers me paid upgrades to 4 and 5. I've gone through all steps and cannot get a license installed. Running Yosemite 10.10.1. Thank you.

    @tazdev1‌

    1Password 4 was a paid upgrade from version 3

Do you have a valid version 4 license file ? The version 4 file will work with version 5.

You should see something like this when requesting your license. If you need a copy sent you can get it from the resend my license page

    Hi everyone,

@thightower‌ thanks for helping out :+1:

@tazdev1, 1Password 4 or 5 for Mac doesn't require a license key, it uses a license file instead. All you need to do is download the license file and double-click on it to register 1Password for Mac.

    Hope that this helps

    Cheers!

Not working. I have managed to download 1pw 4 again, tried updating to 5, ended up with same problem. Downloading license file is not working. Guess will have to stay with 1pw 4 for now.

If 1Password 4 gets licensed properly then 1Password 5 should license with no issue as it uses the same key. Just to clarify is 1Password 4 accepting the license file ? and installing it properly ?

Of note there is a bug in the license window that takes you to an upgrade page. That is scheduled for fix in a later release.

Does this image help possibly explain what you are seeing ?

No. The only thing I get when i do the resend is for 1pw 3 which has done me no good. I don't know where my current 1pw 4 sprang from. It works fine but when I click 1password>license it says trial expired.

Hi @tazdev1‌ I can see that you've purchased 1Password 3 in the past from us based on the email address you use here at the forums. However if you purchased a 1Password 4 licence from us it was either using a different email address or maybe you purchased it via Apple's Mac App Store. I'd lean more towards Apple's MAS as I can't find another purchase for somebody with your name.

It might sound odd but do you remember purchasing a 1Password 4 licence? It was possible that you might have been running the trial version for a while now.

If you purchased 1Password 4 from Apple's MAS it should be in the Purchases tab of the App Store on your Mac. If you think you may have upgraded your licence and for some reason used a different email address and name then we can certainly look into that for you. I wouldn't ask you to do that here in the forums, we'll supply an email address and a list of details that might help track the licence down.

It does not appear in apple purchases. Ive tried the only other email address i could have have used. This may have started with an operating system update or maybe a Safari upgrade. I am now worried that i don't see a 1pw 4 licence and may loose the data as well 1pw altogether.

    Hi @tazdev1‌

Your vault is currently in a read only state and given what the data represents you should know we're not "100% a dick" here at AgileBits (That's Guardians of the Galaxy just in case you're thinking that's an odd thing to say). You won't lose access to what is already there. So even if you decided to store your passwords another way you'd be able to retrieve everything that is currently in there.

If I had to guess, the most likely situation would seem to be that you haven't purchased a 1Password 4 licence in the past. You've checked Apple's Mac App Store, you've checked one email address and I've checked your forum registered one as well as searching based on your name. If this is the case, a new licence can be applied to the existing copy of 1Password that you have and full functionality restored. We can of course keep searching for a licence if you can think of any pertinent details. If you can think of something, let us know but don't post anything personal here.

If it is the case that you need a new licence you have two options.

    1. If iCloud sync is important then going forward you will want a copy of 1Password from Apple's Mac App Store. Sadly we can't offer any discount there.
    2. You can use your 1Password 3 licence key to obtain a discounted upgrade price in our store. Due to Apple restrictions though you can't sync via iCloud if you use our Web Store version.

If you have any questions do post here
