How do I extend time between 1Password logins on Safari

I'm up to date with 1Password on up to date Macbook. I'm using Safari and it's annoying how often I have to type in my password. This behavior is relatively recent.

I've looked in FAQ, searched help and I can't find anything on setting this timeout duration.

  • Hi @booker32‌

These settings can be found under 1Password > Preferences > Security.

    Thanks!

Hi @booker32‌ , 1Password's safari extension will lock after periods of inactivity that are specified by you, it's usually a device lock but can be changed to every 5 or 10 minutes if you wish (to increase security).

To change this timeout duration on 1Password for your Mac, simply go to the main 1Password app, unlock your value. Choose '1Password' from the menu, then 'Preferences', click the 'Security' tab and change the relevant time and check boxes to indicate how often your vault will lock.

I've been there, done that days ago and set timeout for 240 minutes of inactivity and yet a short time after last use (10 minutes, 15 minutes) I have to reenter password. Also, my screen looks different from yours:

Used your "Attach Image" above and gave it a png file.

    Hi @booker32‌

In this instance up to date is relative. That's the preference window for 1Password 3, last really updated mid 2012. Depending on what version of OS X you're running (and I'm thinking Yosemite given the UI style of the window buttons) that may or may not be the most up to date version of 1Password that will run. Now 1Password 4/5 is a paid upgrade from 1Password 3 but your licence would entitle you to a discounted upgrade price.

Now you say it's a recent change to behaviour, is it possible it's a "after I installed Yosemite" kind of recent?

Thank you! I just checked and it is indeed 3.8. I've tried to update and thought I had. I wrote elsewhere your automatic links weren't working I've found the update process far more confusing than any other program I own. You have your own version, a Mac App Store version. You show how to switch to Mac version but don't say why.

Thank you! I just checked and it is indeed 3.8. I've tried to update and thought I had. I just looked at my Applications folder and I see three versions of 1Password, 3, 4, and 5. I trashed 3 and 4 and with my new license I'm golden. WHY DOES YOUR UPGRADE PROCESS ALLOW ME TO SCEW UP LIKE THIS WHEN NO ONE ELSES APPLICATIONS DO? You really need to spend a little time in this area then you won't have to spend it answering questions from people like me.

I wrote elsewhere your automatic links weren't working. They still aren't. Go to:

    https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-mac-kb/5/en/topic/trial-expired

Look for link in the area shown below and click on it - just hangs:

Are you upgrading from 1Password 3?

1Password 5 is a free upgrade for anyone who purchased 1Password 4 for Mac. If you own a license for 1Password 3, you can enter your license key on our AgileBits store upgrade page to see the options available to you.

    Hi @booker32‌

You have another thread on that matter so to save confusion and duplication it's best if we keep the discussions separate. I could be mistaken but as this query ended up being connected to 1Password 3 I think this particular query has now been concluded?

We can continue the discussion of this other matter in your other thread.
