Purchased 1Password4 for iOS - need license for Mac version

I purchased 1Password4 on the App Store. Works fine on my iPhone and iPad but the version on my Macbook says it's expired. I looked at my purchase history on the App Store and it doesn't give me a license, so I have no license to add to the Macbook version, so it's still telling me I have the trail version. How can I update the version on my Mac without having to buy another full version? When I upgraded from 1Password 4 to 5 on my macbook it said it was a free update for existing 1Password 4 users.

  • Hi @dmanianator‌

Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I apologize for the confusion here. 1Password for Mac and 1Password for iOS are separate products, and are sold separately. Purchasing one does not include the other.

Yes, it is true that 1Password 5 for Mac is a free upgrade for 1Password 4 for Mac users. If you had previously been using 1Password 4 for Mac for some time without any sort of expiration notice this is likely due to the fact that there was a bug in our trial code that made it so some folks could use the application indefinitely without purchasing. This was unintentional, and has been corrected.

You can read more about how our licensing works here:

Again my apologies for any misunderstanding.

    Thanks!

It's partly Apple's fault for calling two different things by the same name of App Store.
