Hi,
i have a question:
I sync 1Password with Dropbox. Can i use 1Password4 and the new 1Password5 on different devices for the same Vaults/Account? For e.g. i have an iphone 4 and i cant install iOS8 on that phones, but iOS8 is required for 1Password5. So it is a problem that some devices still uses 1P4 ( for e.g. iphone4 or Windows PC) and some newer devices like Iphone 5S or OSX Yosemite uses 1P5?

Thanks for an answer

That's no problem at all @bogomil22‌ When it comes to Dropbox syncing the only version of 1Password that can't is 1Password for iPhone (v3 for iOS). Every other platform and version can. That's one of the neat aspects of Dropbox, because it works pretty much everywhere it's rare for somebody to get cut off. With 1Password for iPhone the Dropbox APIs changed and I'm guessing it happened after it had been removed from the iTunes Store (I wasn't part of the team at the time so can't remember).

Thanks for an answer. So the agilekeychain/databases of 1P4 and 1P5 are completely compatible, no matter which OS i am using (iOS, OSX or Windows). Awesome, Thanks :)

  • Yes, 1Password 4 & 5 on each of those platforms can read and write the Agile Keychain format. :)

    Thanks!

    Thanks :)
Just another quick question: I installed Yosemite on my MacBook (clean install, no update) and installed 1P5. Its is right that 1P5 create a "1Password 4" folder in /USERNAME/LIBRARY/APPLICATION SUPPORT and not a "1Password 5" folder? Just wondering why this folder has the name "1Password 4" although i use 1P5 :)

  • Hi @bogomil22‌,

1Password 5 for Mac is built upon the foundation laid by 1Password 4 (part of the reason it's a free update) so it shares some of the same code, including Application Support folders.
