Hi JasperP. I have seen no error messages. When I try to sync via wifi the program tells me it syncing & the sync icon revolves, but nothing seems to be happening. After 5 min or so I just kill the sync process. It also tells me the ipad has never been synced before, which is not true. I have been syncing for over 4 years now. I also tried to sync useing Dropbox. It seem's to go through the process, but at the end I have the same issue that I have in the wifi sync. The issue is that the sync is not picking up any new passwords or Secure Notes etc that have been added to 1Password on my Imac in the past month or so. My iMac is my primary computer, so any new passwords etc are set up on it, & get synced to my ipad.
Not sure if the following has any relevance to this issue: When I upgraded to 1Password 4 (from your site) the 1Password3 folder stayed on my iMac. In this folder, amongst other items, there is a 1Password.Agilekeychain which I am not syncing with. I sync with the 1Password.Agilekeychain in the 1Password4 folder. I am not sure if 1Password 4 is using items from the 1Password3 folder, so I left it in place.
Thanks for any help.

Hi @Boomer49,
Thanks for the additional information. You don't need to worry about any 1Password 3 data left on your Mac, that won't cause any problems for 1Password 4.
You said the sync worked correctly for years, which sync method were you using during that time? Do you have a preference for which sync method you use? You'll need to choose between Dropbox and Wi-Fi sync in 1Password on your iPad, so if you don't have a strong preference, let's troubleshoot Dropbox sync.
The first thing to check is that Dropbox sync is enabled in 1Password on your Mac and iPad:
On your Mac, open 1Password and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences, then click the Sync tab. Does that show that it's syncing with Dropbox? If not, follow these steps to set up Dropbox sync.
On your iPad, open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync. Does it show that the Sync Service is Dropbox? If not, follow these steps to set up Dropbox sync.
If Dropbox sync is already set up in 1Password on your Mac and iPad, but the sync isn't working, follow these steps to make sure they're syncing with the same keychain file in Dropbox:
On your Mac:
- Open 1Password and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences
- Click the Sync tab
- Check the file path for the 1Password.agilekeychain file
On your iPad:
- Open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync > Sync Service
- Check the file path for the 1Password.agilekeychain file (underneath Current Sync Method / Dropbox)
If the problem is that one is syncing with a different keychain file/location than the other, you'll need to disable the sync, then set it up again and choose the correct keychain file in your Dropbox folder.
Let us know how it goes and what you find, thanks!

Thanks Drew_AG. For the past year or so I have been using wifi to sync. Long story short I have got the sync working again, using Dropbox. I found a couple of 1Password.agilekeychain files on my imac, so I got rid of the "spare" ones & now I just have one 1Password.agilekeychain file.(I only have one vault) Maybe having multiple 1Password.agilekeychain file copies caused the problem. I tried to get wifi sync going, but no luck. The only item that has NEVER synced & still doesn't is my master password. I have one for the imac & another for the ipad...........over 2 years now. Thanks for the help!

Hi @Boomer49,
I'm glad to hear Dropbox sync is working again! If your Mac and iPad were syncing to different keychain files in Dropbox, that would certainly explain the problem.
Our developers have been looking into a couple issues where a change to your master password on one device might not sync to the other. If other 1Password data now syncs correctly between your Mac and iPad, but each one requires a different master password, you may simply need to manually change one so they both match. For example, if the master password for 1Password on your Mac is the one you want to use for 1Password on your iPad, open 1Password on your iPad and go to Settings > Security > Change Master Password. You'll need to enter the current master password, then it will ask for your new one - you can choose the same one you use on your Mac.
Hopefully that helps, but let us know if you need anything else. :)
