iPhone Syncs with 1Password 5 unexpectedly

I have the desktop version of 1Password 5 installed on a desktop Mac, set up to sync only through wi-fi, as I do not want to sync through the cloud. When enter new information on the desktop version (WITHOUT the Wifi Sync window open on either device), it still syncs. I have never set up the devices to sync in one of the clouds. What is going on? Thanks.

    Wifi sync should work at any time 1P5 is unlocked on both devices. It's a recent improvement to wifi sync.

    Thank you, both for the response and for the improvement to the application. That makes syncing so much more seamless for us wi-fi folk.
