iCloud sync data not matching

I have iCloud sync turned on. Data matches on two Macs and my phone. On a third Mac, turning on iCloud Drive took forever and I ended up rebooting - 1Password sync had been turned off (previously on syncing to dropbox).

  • When iCloud sync was enabled on this 3rd Mac, it didn't say detected data. Instead, it seems to have created it's own dataset in iCloud drive. When I look at sync preferences in 1password, it shows icloud drive - onepassword_data. None of the other Macs show onepassword_data, just that icloud sync is turned on.
  • When I log in to icloud drive, I don't see these folders, they appear to be hidden.

How do I get this 3rd mac to sync to the correct data?
Thanks. Stephen

  • Hi Stephen,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble.

What version(s) of 1Password are you using on each Mac? To check, please open 1Password and go to 1Password > About 1Password in the OS X menu bar.

Also, what version(s) of OS X are you using?

Thanks in advance for the additional info!

Hi Jasper, I'm running 10.10.1 and 4.4.2 (App Store). I checked and ran the update to 5.0 and the problem looks like it has resolved itself. Thanks!

  • Hi Stephen,

I'm glad to hear upgrading to 1Password 5 fixed it. :)

In version 5, iCloud sync was rewritten from the ground up to use CloudKit, a new technology from Apple that’s built into OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) and iOS 8. The old iCloud sync in version 4 is no longer compatible.

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always happy to help!
