2 occurrences of 1Password Mini in Status Menu Bar
I have 2 occurrences of 1Password Mini in the Status Menu Bar, how can I delete one of them?
I have tried: (1) command + drag icon off status bar. (2) Going into system preferences - Users & Groups - Login Items and removed 1password. (3) Gone into 1Password preferences and deselect 'Always keep 1Password mini running (which only removes one of them).

Hi @hikerai,
This usually happens when you have 2 copies of 1Password installed on your disk. The best way to get rid of it is to simply delete the second copy of 1Password. Search spotlight for '1Password' and ensure that there's only 1 app that shows up. Dragging the additional copies of the app to the trash and emptying the trash should cause it to terminate.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Rick, I found 2 just like you said. One was named 1Password and the other named 1Password 4. I checked the date created and deleted the older one.

Hi @hikeral,
It sounds like you may have had the website version (1Password 4.app) and Mac App Store version (1Password.app) installed at the same time. It sounds like it's all working correctly now, but if you have more questions or run into problems, just let us know. Thanks! :)

I have a similar problem with multiple icons appearing, except that the icon is not in the status menu bar, it's to the right of the URL/Search bar in Firefox 35 (and before - it's been there for a long while now).
It looks like this:The old logo with the #1P has a white rectangle over it. The new "key" logo is next to it and works fine. I searched for other versions, and had two dated 2011. Deleted both of these but the icon persists!
Any suggestions? I need the real estate back! :D0 -
If you go to Firefox > Tools > Add-ons what add-ons do you see listed there for 1P?

I also cannot trash old 1P 4. Trash is empty, but dragging 1P 4 does not get it into trash. Please help.

Added to above:
Here is what I see in Applications looking at the Spotlight. Version numbers are added by me.
1P5 - 1P5 5.0.2
1P5 - Downloads 5.0.2
1P4 4.1.3
1P5mini - 1P5 5.0.2When I look under applications in the finder I only see 1P5 listed.

@Stephen_C - hope you were responding to me as well - Here is a screen shot of Firefox> Tools> Extensions:
1Password>About shows this:
Any clue?
Seems to be some version differences...0 -
When I went to 1Password's page, seems there may be an issue because I've upgraded to Yosemite. Are there known issues with that? Is there a new version coming for Yosemite?

@scry42 with current versions of 1P (i.e., 1P4 and 1P5) the 1P extension number in the browser does not match the 1P main app version number. I can't recall if that was the case with 1P3 but I suspect it was because the browser extensions are developed separately from the main app. So this is rather a long-winded way of saying my inclination is not to worry about the difference.
1P3 still runs under Yosemite I believe so you're not bound to upgrade—although 1P5 was designed for Yosemite and is very good (once you get used to the changes over 1P3).
As to the two icons you're seeing in the FF menu bar, what happens if you press the "hamburger" symbol at the right hand end of the FF menu bar then click customise at the bottom left of the drop down and drag off the menu bar the 1P icon you want to delete. First, does that actually work (i.e., can you drag the icon off the menu bar into the Additional Tools and Features collection) and, second, if it works does it stick when you re-start FF?

Hi @scry42,
As Stephen mentioned, you should be able to remove the extra "1P" icon from the Customize window. Here are the steps you can follow to do that:
- In Firefox, click on the "hamburger" icon at the far right end of the tool bar.
- In the panel that appears, click the + Customize button in the lower left corner.
- Note that the "1P" icon now says Show 1Password; right-click on that text, and select Remove from the menu that appears.
- Click the Exit Customize button in the lower left corner of the customization panel.
If you're interested in upgrading to 1Password 5 for Mac, you can simply click this link and then enter your license code to see your upgrade options and pricing.
If you have more questions about that, just let us know! :)

So I had a lot of trouble with this, but I may have just fixed it.
I'm running Yosemite 10.10.3 + 1Password 5. Previously I had 1Password 4. It turned out to exist on an old system backup drive (created with Carbon Copy Cloner); apparently because I had used it before it was still able to find and run that copy?Anyway here's how I fixed the issue:
1. Trashed the old 1Password 4 instance.
2.Trashed anything I could find in /Library/LaunchAgent, /Library/LaunchDaemon, or ~/Library/LaunchAgent that was related to 1Password.
3.Opened Terminal:
$ launchctl list
4. This gave me a long list of all my processes (there is probably a simple way to filter this down), and found 1Password listed twice, one followed by a 6 digit number. So I had to run this command line twice to get rid of each instance (the KILL ID is the same ID listed under launchctl, so replace it with the one from your system):
$ kill 701; launchctl stop 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper; launchctl remove 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper
$ kill 483; launchctl stop 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper.267276; launchctl remove 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper.267276
5. Went to System Preferences > Users & Groups > [my login] > Login Items, and removed 1Password Mini. (Had I added it there myself because it wasn't running at all previously? May have, though I thought I'd already checked that and removed it so I'm not sure how it came back).
6. Restarted.Voila! The second copy is gone.

Hi @datico,
Thanks for sharing the steps you took to solve the problem! It may have been possible to fix it with fewer/easier steps - normally this sort of thing can be solved by simply deleting extra copies of 1Password, or by running commands to stop and remove the extra 1Password mini. But either way, I'm just happy the problem is solved and things are working correctly now! :)
By the way, it sounds like you added 1Password mini to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items, because it shouldn't normally be there. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with the issues you were running into, but thought I'd mention it for future reference.
If you need anything else, please let us know!
