Trying to download my vault from my iMac running Yosemite to my new iPhone 6 running the latest software downloaded from the Apple store. Both my iMac and my iPhone are on my wireless network and running the latest Apple software. My iPhone also runs fine over the wireless network. Downloading over the wireless network seems a simple solution for problems that I have had trying to sync using other methods.

Please tell me that I do not have to disconnect my hardwired connection from my iMac to my Apple wireless router to make this method work. I also have problems trying to move my vaults via Dropbox and Apple iCloud to all my Apple devices which are a Macbook Air which has not yet been updated to Yosemite, and a iPad vintage 2011. I have tried repeatedly on and off over the past month or so.

  • Hi @hawk713‌

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having syncing. Can you please try syncing your iMac and iPhone over an AdHoc WiFi network? You can find instructions here:

Also: just to clarify: you have both a wired and wireless connection to the same router?

:( While I have both a wired and wireless connection to the same router, and the wireless connection was turned on, it WAS NOT connected to any wireless network. After connecting to my wireless network everything worked well. Thank you!

However this leads me to another problem. If I generate a strong password using 1Password's generator for my network, will I be able to pass that password to all my devices, iPhone, iPad, Macbook Air, and my Television set without having to type it? The first time it would be slow, but if I want to change my network password on a regular basis it would be very tedious.

I love 1Password and will continue to highly recommend it.

Glad to hear you were able to get that working.

In order to sync the new password for the network over you'd probably want to use an Ad Hoc network which can be set up using the link above. Once you've synced the 1Password update over you can then copy the password for your network from 1Password.

    Thanks.
