Hi @bayoyong,
Thanks for taking the time to write to us
Let's try the reboot voodoo first, It works in most cases.
Please let us know whether the problem persists after you re-installed the 1Password Safari Extension and rebooted your Mac.
Cheers!

Hi David,
I replied to the discussion your created here: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/33543/1password-for-mac-will-not-stay-installed-on-safari-8#latest
Did any of those suggestions help?

No luck. :(

had the same problem. Couldn't install the Extension after downloading it from agile bits. It worked for me, after
- menu preferences in Safari
- tab extensions (no 1password here),
- fetch extensions (Erweiterungen holen bei mir :-) )
- extensions.apple.com (maybe you could just start here...)
- search extension
- "install now"
the extension then shows up in the extension list of safari. I'm not
shure, but afterwards I did a restart, maybe that did the rest.0 -
Hi @axel_mueller,
Thanks for letting us know the steps you took to solve the problem. I haven't heard of something like that being necessary before, but perhaps it will help others who are having this problem.
@bayoyong, if you're still having trouble with the extension in Safari, you can try the above suggestion, or you can also try some other, more in-depth steps that @JasperP posted in this thread. Please let us know if it helps!

Hi, every time I restart my computer, I have to re-install the 1Password 5 Safari extension. Permissions issue? Can you help? Thx.

Drew, I am still having this issue. I just posted another thread b/c I couldn't find this one...until now. When I go to my Safari prefs, the 1Password extension is listed there. I tried using the Keychain Access solution, and that didn't do it either. Every time I quit and re-open Safari I have to re-install the 1Password 5 extension. Any other clue? Thx!

Does this AgileBits post (from today) help?

Thx Stephen. It shows up in Safari Prefs. I have the latest versions of 1P5.

As the linked post mentions please give the exact 1P version you're using (go to 1P > About 1Password and tell us exactly what it says there) and the version number of the 1P extension in Safari (go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions).

Sorry about posting in more than one place. I didn't have notifications turned on, so I couldn't find the old post until after I had re-posted.

There is another suggested solution in this post by a user and another quite long discussion in this thread (the best place to start is with the AgileBits post in that thread to which I've linked).

Ok, so that's weird. I tried one of the suggested solutions in the thread...to uninstall the 1P extension, reboot, and then reinstall. I have been installing the extension in the past by clicking on the 1P icon in the menu bar and then clicking "Get 1P Extension", downloading from your site. This time I went thru the Safari prefs button "Get Extensions." I downloaded it and installed. This time I get no 1P icon in my Safari toolbar. But when I go to prefs, it says it's installed.

I think trashing my Safari extensions prefs did it. So far, so good. Thx for the help guys!

BTW...I noticed one thing when it did start working...after I installed the extension, a new tab opened saying you are now ready to use the 1P extension. This didn't happen before. Thx.

Hi @bayoyong,
Safari recently changed how it manages extensions from having a prefs file to storing all of that info inside of the Keychain. I wonder if something got screwed up there and it was constantly trying to do that migration from prefs file to keychain and failing.
Good to see this works now though. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Rick
