1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini
Hi
I have been using 1Password for Mac version 3 for a few years and just upgraded to version 5. I am using the latest Yosemite 10.10.1 on the Mac. I followed all problem solving suggestions in the forum but cannot install version 5 without the following error "1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini" I have deleted all known previous 1password apps, folders, files and even the ext in google and Safari and emptied garbage then rebooted but the problem continues and I cant access the program. Then did a clean download and re-install but got the same problem. After many attempts I got the following error.
the system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini.
Instead of '/Volumes/1A638D4B-3E17-45F6-9B55-25D9CEC7F91B-417-0000005FAE2C3208/1Password 5.app/Contents/LoginItems' it started '/Applications/1Password 5.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems'.
I have obviously still got some older files somewhere on the computer. Any suggestions how to find them so I can install the new version?
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks,
John

Yosemite can manage to get itself into quite a decent tangle if you have more than one version of 1P on any disk which is attached to your machine when you start 1P. You clearly have another disk attached—maybe a backup disk—so the solution, in simple terms, is to ensure you don't have a copy of 1P5 on that disk. There are two options:
- ensure there is no copy of 1P5 on that disk (e.g., by excluding the app file from the backup); or
- disable Spotlight from indexing the attached disk—which is a work around that seems to have worked for some people.
AgileBits recommend the first option.

Hi Stephen
Many thanks for suggestions and quick reply. Unfortunately I have ensured any possible backups or copies on previously connected drive/s have been disconnected, Also that icloud, dropbox and any other drive that could possibly contain any 1 password files has been stopped and disconnected and the trash emptied and I still cannot install a clean download after a reboot. I get the same error "1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini" While loading I can't even access any selections from 1 Password across the top of the screen to see if I could stop Mini. If I try to start by double clicking the App icon in the applications folder I get the following error .. ...The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini.
Instead of '/Volumes/E3066CD7-CAAD-4438-8514-9F410339B292-357-00000028317AD6EF/1Password 5.app/Contents/LoginItems' it started '/Applications/1Password 5.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems'.
I will keep looking but it is frustrating to have 1 Password on my iphone and Ipad working fine but not on the Mac. I wonder if anyone at Agilebits can explain the above error and advise why it is starting the wrong login items file. Thanks again.

Problem solved. After checking all info re files loaded I found that for some reason the 1Password Zip file downloaded was being opened and installed incorrectly by my Mac WinZip App. I noted that files were being installed with very old creation dates. Once I ensured that the file was being opened by only the Mac Archive utility program everything loaded just fine. WinZip for Mac has now been permanently removed..........

Hi @Palliser
I'm glad to hear you managed to resolve this. I've never used WinZip for Mac myself so I wouldn't have guessed at it being the culprit. The built-in Archive Utility has always done me so well I've never looked any further. If you do run into any problems in the future or have any questions do please post
