Need refund on license that was supposed to be a free upgrade

I upgraded from 1Password 3 to 1Password 4 on October 13, 2013, order #10337508. When I had updated to Yosemite OS on my Mac, I requested identification of my 1Password 4 license so that I could update to 1Password 5 at no charge.

After updating in November 2014 and assuming I had the free upgrade, I was surprised after 30 days to be notified that if I wanted to continue to use the app, I would need to purchase it at full price. Not wanting to lose the service, I did so, but then found the evidence that I did indeed have the 1Password 4 license paid for.

I would like a refund of the purchase price because the published email to customers received in October 2014 cited that the upgrade from a paid license from 1Password 4 to 1Password 5 would not incur a fee.

Citation of the offer for free upgrade for 1Password 4 license holders; Wed, Nov 5, 2014 at 1:15 PM, Dave Teare dave_teare@agilebits.com wrote:

Best of all: 1Password 5 for Mac is a free upgrade for all 1Password 4 for Mac license holders!

CLARIFICATION of license info: When I requested the license info in November 2014, I was told that all I had was the 1Password 3 license. Does this mean that paying for the $25 upgrade in October 2013 did NOT grant me a full upgrade to 1Password 4? If so, I'm not sure why I was paying the upgrade fee.

  • Hi @bonnieprice‌

The latest purchase I see from you was on 2013-10-10. I do not see a purchase, from us, in November of 2014.

Your October 2013 purchase did upgrade you to a 1Password 4 for Mac license, which also works for 1Password 5 for Mac. An explanation for the 'trial expired' message is available here:
