Hi,

I have just upgraded from OS X Mountain Lion to Yosemite, and 1Password to 5.02 at the same time; not sure if my previous version of 1Password was 3x or 4x. Anyway prior to upgrading I located the backup folder and made a copy. On launching 5.02 I get the option of "New to 1Password" or "Used 1Password before". Selecting the latter option, I then selected Restore From Backup. I located the backup folder on my desktop, but all the files are greyed out. I then selected the "This Mac" option. This time the files were not greyed out and can be selected, but they will not open.

The backup file name is formatted as follows: 1Password 2014-12-20 092858 (100 items).agilekeychain_zip

Can someone please advise me how to get my backup files successfully restored.

Many thanks.

    Hi @masb1308‌

What you have there is a backup from 1Password 3 and so yes, 1Password 5 won't recognise it directly as a backup that it can restore but that is not to say you're out of luck.

What you need to do is rename the file so it ends in .zip e.g. change .agilekeychain_zip to .agilekeychain.zip. You can then unzip the file by double clicking on it and that will yield an agilekeychain which you can definitely use to populate 1Password 5.

If you need any more assistance or anything explained in more depth do please let us know.
