Hello, I just purchased 1Password form the mac app store but when trying to lunch the program it gives an error saying: 1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini, please restart 1PAssword. If this does not help, pelase contact AgileBits Support..

I downloaded the latest version also from agilebits.com and when I go to file-licences: it says that i was purchased from the app store... but the whole problem is that I cant not sync with iCloud using this version.

Any idea what could be happening?

Thanks

Luis.

    Luis,

You say you purchased from the Mac App Store, so that is the place to download it from. This lets you have iCloud syncing. It sounds like the version you downloaded is corrupted somehow.

    So,

    1. Remove the 1Password application by putting it in the trash.
    • Do not use an Application cleaner as some have gotten over zealous at times and removed data files. *aka your passwords etc.
    1. Empty the trash
    2. Reboot for good measure.
    3. Download a new copy from the App Store and start 1Password again.
    • Make sure to download from the App Store as their are fundamental differences in sync setup from that version and the AgileBits website version. Its possible to move between the versions if needed. However if its not necessary lets avoid that scenario all together.

In all the posts I have seen this solves the issue. If it doesn't please reply back.

  • Hi @docasar‌,

The website version of 1Password will automatically license itself if you've previously run the Mac App Store version of 1Password. But since you want to do iCloud, you do not want to be using the website version of the app. Best bet is to start by following @thightower‌'s instructions.

I would add a "reboot" to the end of that list. A reboot will usually cause LaunchServices to look in /Applications again to determine what's all in there, which will likely help when we ask the system to launch the mini for us.

I hope this helps. Let us know how this works out for you.

    Rick
