Want to move from Data Guardian 2.1.1 to 1Password 4.4.3

Several years ago agile bits very generously sent me, at no cost, 1PW 3.5.15 to use on my G4 Power Mac with OS 10.4 until I could upgrade to a newer Mac. I promised that when I could update to a newer Mac I'd purchase a new version of 1Password. I now have a new Mac Mini with OS 10.9.5. I'd be delighted to buy 1PW 4.4.3 (I'm using Mavericks [10.9.5]). I welcome all suggestions on how I may transfer my data from either Data-Guardian 2.1.1 or 1PasswordWord 1Password 3.5.15

I would prefer to re-import my DataGuardian 2.1.1 to 1Password 3.5.15 and then transfer to 1Password 4.4.3 or (groan!!) manually transfer my Data-guardian 2.1.1 to 1PW4.3.3. Can someone suggest the best way for me to move to 1Password? I have about 500 log-ins/passwords.

    Hi @Steve_Jobs,

    What formats can DataGuardian export?

What a fantastic question! Makes me feel very stupid. I checked both DG 2.1.1 (used on my G4 Power Mac with 10.5.8) and DG3.2 (used on my iBook with 10.9.5) and both versions of Data Guardian have a choice to Export to 1Password!! Maybe you can help here though. When I select that export option in either version, the following dialog appears: "Export records to 1Password interchange file. In 1Password, import using the 'Import Assistant' feature'".

    Hi @Steve_Jobs,

If Data-Guardian can actually export to a 1PIF file, you would use 1Password's File > Import menu, select your exported 1PIF, and leave the default File Format set to 1Password Interchange Format (.1pif). Does it work if you do that?

    I would import into 1Password 4.x and not 3.x.

    Mr. C:

:) Your suggestion worked perfectly! I think this information should be included in Agilebits FAQ. The only challenge is, before one Exports from Data Guardian to a .1pif file, the Field Mapping in Data Guardian needs to be completed with their pulldown menu. The settings I chose (others may have slightly different choices) are Title>Name, Notes>Notes, Location>URL, User Name>Login and Password>Password. Now the only problem I have is I cannot find how to pay for 1Password 4.3.3 upgrade. The Agilebits site seems only have a means to pay for 1Password 5. :s

    Thank you so much,
    Steve

That's great news @Steve_Jobs. Thanks for the follow-up. I'll leave the FAQ update to the AgileBits folks. They'll probably bring closure to the thread, so will probably comment.

    Happy New Year.

    Hi @Steve_Jobs‌

I'm so glad to hear that @MrC was able to help you through the import process. Could you please clarify a bit what you are hoping to see included in our FAQ? We have a few different places with FAQs listed, could you tell me where you were reading that you would have liked this statement to be included?

I think this question has already been answered in the other thread you created, but if you would like any further clarification on this, of course we're here to help!
