iPad Stopped Syncing
My retina iPad (running on IOS 8.1.2) refuses to sync after closing 1Password and restarting. It is currently set to sync with Dropbox and has been for a year without any problems. My iPhone 6 1Password app syncs with the same dropbox account and folder without any problems.
I've carried out all of the suggestions I've seen in this forum without success (i.e. uninstalled and reinstalled the app three times, tried stopping the sync with dropbox and restarting the 1Password app).
Any other suggestions to solve this would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I am now syncing the iPad through wi-fi without any problems and the iPhone still syncs correctly with Dropbox.
Is it worth changing over to syncing through iCloud?
On another matter, whilst investigating the problem, I noticed that my Dropbox folder "1PasswordSync" contains a file called "1Password.agilekeychain" when viewed on my MAC as a folder. However, if viewed through the Dropbox web site, this file becomes a folder containing sub-folders, one of which is called "Data" and contains another sub-folder called "Default". This folder contains many files date stamped from 2013 up until the current date.
Does 1Password delete any of the old files or are they all needed and, if so, I guess that Dropbox is being gradually filled by an accumulation of synced files?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @WillockBoy,
I'm sorry you're having trouble with Dropbox sync! Can you please elaborate on what happens? Are you able to re-enable sync with your keychain file in Dropbox? If you get any error messages, what do they say? Can you set up the sync, but it won't sync any changes you make to 1Password on your Mac or iPhone? What version of 1Password are you using on each device/computer? I'm sure we can get Dropbox sync working again, we just need more details about exactly what's happening on your end.
To answer your other questions: The 1Password.agilekeychain "file" is actually a folder that contains lots of smaller files that make up your vault. That folder is bundled so it appears like a single file on your Mac, but when viewed through the Dropbox website, you can see that it's actually a folder. No need to worry about the dates on the files inside there, they are different because your items in 1Password have different created/modified dates.
Let us know about the Dropbox issue on your iPad, and we'll take it from there. Thanks!

Drew_AG, Many thanks for your response and for explaining the Dropbox sync files.
In answer to your questions:
Are you able to re-enable sync with your keychain file in Dropbox?
NoIf you get any error messages, what do they say?
The error messages say that I am possibly syncing with another vault as there are differences between the two vaults and goes on to recommend that I do not merge the vaults. Can you set up the sync, but it won't sync any changes you make to 1Password on your Mac or iPhone?
Yes, I can set up the sync in Dropbox with n0 error messages and then changes made on my MAC do not sync. What version of 1Password are you using on each device/computer?
On my MAC I'm using 5.0.2 and on my iPad 5.1.2 and on my iPhone 5.1.2Hope that helps?

Hi @WillockBoy, thanks for the additional info!
I'm just a little confused about something: You said you can't enable Dropbox sync because a message says not to merge the vaults. However, you also said you can enable Dropbox sync and do not get any errors (although the sync doesn't work). Can you clarify that? I'm probably misunderstanding something simple, and I apologize if that's the case.
If the problem is that you're getting a Vault Mismatch warning when trying to enable Dropbox sync on iOS, that warning appears just in case you have multiple vaults in Dropbox, so you don't accidentally merge two completely different vaults together. We have more information about that message here. If you only have one vault in Dropbox, you can go ahead and merge the data. When you see the Vault Mismatch message, tap More Info, then tap Merge These Vaults Anyway. That will simply update 1Password on your device with any newer data in Dropbox (and vice versa).
If that's not the problem, let me know. The more details you can give about the steps you're taking and what happens, the better. :)

Please don't apologise, I'm sure that it's me not explaining clearly enough.
It was indeed the "Vault Mismatch" warning that I was receiving. I only have the one vault in Dropbox and so I've now merged the vaults, as suggested. So far all seems to be working again although I'm confused that, after I synced my iPad through wi-fi with my MAC, I would have thought that my MAC (using the Dropbox vault) and my iPad would have shown the same number of entries?
One thing I forgot to mention was that, previously on my iPad, when I pressed the "Sync Now" text, nothing happened (i.e. it wasn't syncing). I also wondered whether the problem occurred every time there was a Dropbox app update (of which there have been two recently).
I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will continue to work as before.
Thank you so much for all of your prompt help. 1Password is a fantastic programme.

Hi @WillockBoy,
Great, I'm happy to hear Dropbox sync is working again!
You're correct that 1Password on your iPad and Mac should have had the same number of items after syncing them via Wi-Fi. I'm not sure why they still had a different number. Now that Dropbox sync is working again, do they match?
One thing I forgot to mention was that, previously on my iPad, when I pressed the "Sync Now" text, nothing happened (i.e. it wasn't syncing).
That actually sounds like an issue from an earlier release of 1Password 5 for iOS. That was fixed at some point, but in some cases just needs a little kickstart to get things running again.
I also wondered whether the problem occurred every time there was a Dropbox app update (of which there have been two recently).
That shouldn't be a problem - I've never experienced any issues after installing Dropbox updates, and I don't think I've heard of that happening to anyone else, either. The trouble you were having was most likely left over from the previous known issue I mentioned.
If you ever run into another problem with 1Password, we're always glad to help. Have a great weekend!
