Backup file not compatible for migration to updated software
Hi, I've used 1Password Pro version 3.6.5 (on IOS / iPhone) for a few years now and like it. I learned that there was a newer version with interesting updates so, I'd like to upgrade, but cannot. A few issues/scenarios:
1) (from iPhone) Can't sync with Dropbox (says that my password is wrong, but it is not... (I can log on fine from my iPhone dropbox app and on my desktop.)
2) When I start new 1Password app on IOS (version 4), it gives me options to sync data... I choose Import from Version 3. When I select that option (Version 3 Import), it gives me option to "Open 1Password3" -- I select that and it takes me to my 1Password Pro version 3.6.5 app with option to Migrate to 1Password4. When I select that, the settings page appears and it just hangs... nothing happens at all. I don't think this is user error, the UI seems pretty simple to follow, as described above.
3) I was able to save a backup file (from 1Password Pro version 3.6.5 -- IOS) to my local PC, file name: 1Password0100-20150103.1ptbackup -- Main issue here is that the Windows version on my main PC does not recognize the file at all. When I try to force open the file, it either does not "see" the file or does not open it (when I opt to show all files). The error message is: 1Password0100-20150103.1ptbackup is not a 1Password backup.
** Is this a version 4 to Version 3 incompatibility of some kind? I cannot sync (migrate) from old app to new app (just hangs... ) and when I try to open version 3 backup file on Windows version 4, the file is not recognized.
Thanks for listening here and I hope to get this sorted in near future.
All best,
Anthony

Yes, we have a solution for you. FYI, The reason DropBox is no longer working is because DropBox changed their APIs since 1Password 3.6 came out so it doesn't know how to communicate with DropBox anymore.
Here is what you need to do to upgrade your data:
- Make a few backups of your iOS data by following the instructions in How To: Back up your 1Password Data on the iOS. You'll want to follow the instructions for Backing up only.
Save these files in a safe location, as we will need them to restore your data.
On your iOS device, go into the Purchases section of the App Store (hidden within Updates on the iPhone) and verify that you see 1Password 3 there. If you don't see it there, DO NOT PROCEED WITH THE NEXT STEPS. Let me know if it's not there. Otherwise, move on to step 3.
Now, remove 1Password 3 from your iOS device, and reinstall it from the Purchases section of the App Store. This should give you version 3.7.2 of 1Password.
Follow the instructions on the above link to restore the backup we created in step 1.
Is there a reason you wish to go to version 4 instead of 5? (older iOS perhaps?) If not, we recommend 1Password 5. Either way, launch the newer 1Password for iOS and choose the "Sync existing Vault" > "Import from Version 3" option.
That should do it. If not, please let us know what step gave you trouble.

Hi Hayesk --
Your response is appreciated. When I click on the link provided a "Permissions Problem" appears for me. Here is the message:
"Permission Problem
You don't have permission to do that."

Can you provide another link that works? Once I see the info, I will take next steps, as appropriate. Also, re: point 4 in your email... I downloaded what appeared to me in the app store. If there is a version 5, I will definitely download it.
All best,
