New iPhone - LOST all of my passwords. [Resolved with sync]
Please help. I didn't have a ton of passwords in 1Password but the ones I had were super important. They're gone. All gone. My new I6+ was messed up so Apple gave me a new one. I did a sync with the backup - everything seemed fine except for this AM when I tried to update one of the passwords. Nothing is there. I used the right logon and password to get into the ap but EVERYTHING IS GONE. All latest updates to IOS are installed.

You say:
I did a sync with the backup
Can you please explain exactly what you did, because it will help us to help you. Do you mean you restored the new phone from an iTunes backup? If not, what exactly did you do?
Do you have any Mac or PC with which your 1P data is synchronised? If so, what sync method have you used?
I used the right logon and password to get into the ap but EVERYTHING IS GONE.
So the app is there and still accepts your master password to unlock it: is that right?

Steve,
Yes - I can still access it with my master password. The only password in there is the one I added this morning. As for my initial login this morning, when I went to log on, I had to enter my user ID and password, which was unusual. Still, I got access. Nothing was there when I got on. This was my first attempt to log on with this new phone. I don't recall if I logged on with the phone I replaced - I only had it about 2-weeks.
I don't know how I sync it - I thought it was iCloud but when it was syncing, it indicated no previous sync existed. It definitely wasn't dropbox. The passwords have always been there when I log on to the ap, but this time, nothing. I presumed the data was stored within your server.
I'm using a MAC. The backup was of my iPhone so I could restore my old (new) iPhone with the replacement iPhone and iTunes. It was a hardline sync w/ the lightning cable.
A few notes: I did have to reset my settings in the new phone after the initial backup. Also, I haven't tried to access 1Password from my ipad today, it's possible everything will show up there.
Thanks,

Here's some craziness...I just accessed the ap from my old iPhone 4S using wifi (personal hotspot from i6+ - everything is there. I'm just going to copy everything down and transfer it manually. Before I do all of that, should I try and sync it?

Ok - now I synced it - and now everything is there. I'm embarassed. It synced before and nothing showed up - I guess it was just something that I had to do (sync, that is) from the old phone first.

Hi @jsosb1969,
I'm really glad to hear you were able to get your 1Password data back! I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I had some thoughts about a few things you mentioned:
As for my initial login this morning, when I went to log on, I had to enter my user ID and password, which was unusual.
1Password doesn't ask for a user ID, so it doesn't sound like you were opening the 1Password app. Is it possible you were logging into some website, or another app that required both a user ID and password? Unlocking the 1Password app only requires your master password.
I don't know how I sync it - I thought it was iCloud but when it was syncing, it indicated no previous sync existed. It definitely wasn't dropbox. The passwords have always been there when I log on to the ap, but this time, nothing.
If you're not sure, there's a good chance you weren't using any of the sync options in 1Password. Even if you were using other iCloud services on your device, that doesn't necessarily mean you had enabled the iCloud sync feature in the 1Password app.
I presumed the data was stored within your server.
1Password never sends your password data to us. We do not have servers to store it. By default, all your 1Password data is stored locally on your device. You can choose to sync an encrypted copy of your data to iCloud or Dropbox, or to 1Password for Mac or Windows via Wi-Fi sync.
I'm using a MAC. The backup was of my iPhone so I could restore my old (new) iPhone with the replacement iPhone and iTunes. It was a hardline sync w/ the lightning cable.
It sounds like you restored your new iPhone from an iTunes backup of your old iPhone, and that the iTunes backup didn't restore your 1Password data. I'm afraid we don't have control over the iTunes backup feature, so I don't know why it didn't work. However, we've received similar reports from other users. We don't recommend relying on only iTunes device backups to backup/restore your 1Password data, and strongly encourage the use of the sync and/or backup features in the 1Password app.
If you have more questions or need anything else, we're here for you!
