Dropbox sync stopped working in iPhone
Somehow the Dropbox syncing stopped working on my iPhone. It says the last time is synced was 12 weeks ago. I have updated items on the phone that I don't want to use.
I created test notes in Windows and the iPhone to see which side was failing. I logged into Dropbox and launched 1Password Anywhere to debug.
How do I fix this without losing all my updates on the iPhone?
Windows 7, 1Password 4.1.0.530
iPhone 5, 1Password v5.1.2

Try this:
- First, backup your PW file on your iPhone. The steps are here.
- Also, make a backup on Windows too, just in case.
- Then, on the iPhone go to Settings, Sync, and tap "Sync Now". If that isn't there, it means Sync is not currently set up. You can choose "Start Sync" and choose DropBox. Tell it to merge and it should complete the sync.
- If "Sync Now" was there and reported an error, let us know.
Let us know if you have any trouble with that.

The Sync Now button is there, and I've pressed it many times. I get no errors and no feedback other than the button flashing to indicate it was pressed.

I turned on sync logging and emailed a diagnostic report to myself. I see some messages saying:
501204 [SYNC:0x17e2cc90:OPKeychainReplicaManager] E fileSyncServiceForName:userId: | Failed to create OPDropboxFileSyncService, userId '474115' is not linked. Available userIds: (
)I have the Dropbox app on my phone and I'm currently logged in.

Hi @isheedm,
To make sure I understand, you were able to determine that Dropbox sync works in 1Password for Windows, but isn't working in 1Password for iOS? If so, please try these steps:
- On your iPhone, open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync > Sync Service.
- Tap Disable Sync, then confirm you want to disable it.
- Double-click the Home button and swipe up on 1Password to close it.
- Restart your iPhone (hold down the power button for a few seconds and "slide to power off", then turn it back on again).
- After the restart, open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync > Start Syncing > Sync with Dropbox.
- Follow the steps to complete the Dropbox sync setup.
Does that help? Let us know how it goes, thanks!

Yes, I did use a test note to determine that Dropbox sync works on Windows.
I don't have access to my home compute right now with iTunes. I created the backup on my phone.
When I start to disable the sync, I get the warning about locally cached Dropbox data being removed. Will I be able to restore the backup to not lose my local changes after I disable and re-enable the Dropbox sync? Do I need to wait until I get home and copy the backup off the phone first?

Hi @isheedm,
Sorry for the confusion about that message - when you disable Dropbox sync, you won't be losing any 1Password data from Dropbox or from the 1Password app. They simply won't sync changes back and forth anymore (but apparently they weren't doing that anyway). Also, the backup you made will still be there if for some reason you need it (just don't delete the 1Password app from your device, as that would delete the backup).
Once you re-enable Dropbox sync, that should (hopefully) get things back on track again, so any changes you've made will sync to/from Dropbox.
I hope that helps clear up the confusion, but let us know if you have more questions.

OK, that seems to have got the sync working again on the iPhone. Thanks!
