Fix requested, edit window stays open when editing from 1Password Mini

Hi,

First, I love 1Password, and it keeps getting better and better. One UI/UX element has really been bothering me and wasting a lot of time.

When you edit an item from Mini and then save the edit, the item remains and must be closed by clicking the red button in the corner. I don't see any reason why the item should stay after you have finished updating it.

Here are screen shots for explanation:

    Hi @jbburf‌

Thanks for taking the time to write in, and for your kind words about 1Password!

Now, I'm not quite sure I see the behaviour you describe as a bug. I can see plenty of cases where a user might be editing the entry and, once the changes are saved, want to copy those new details into a website or other log in pane. It all depends on workflow. Closing the pane automatically could be just as disruptive to those users.

You might find it handy to know that the keyboard shortcut ⌘-W will also close that window, so you don't need to mouse over and close it by clicking.

I hope this helps! That being said, I will pass this request along to our developers. Perhaps adding a 'Save and Close' button would be helpful for users who prefer the same workflow as yourself. :)

Thanks Megan, I see what you mean. This is more of a request for an additional setting. With my workflow (I have 611 logins saved in 1Password and use it across 2 Macs, 1 PC, 2 iPhone and an iPad) I am constantly running into this as an issue. I understand I'm a bit of a power user and not your normal user. This would be a huge help though.

Also I have tried ⌘W with no success. I have tried other ways of closing the window as well with no success. I am still just mounting to the "x" and closing the window manually.

Thanks for your response and I hope you'll be able to accommodate this as I think it will make the program much better for power users.

  • Hi @jbburf,

We definitely want to get cmd-w support for that window. Because the mini runs without a main menu (No File, Edit, etc...) we don't get that one for free, so it'll be up to us to implement. Should be possible for us to do though.

    Rick
