iOS Apps do not sync/show custom fields in Password entries [Known issue, resolved in coming update]

I want to have one entry in 1Password with all my second factor recovery keys configured as passwords. I achieved this by creating a password entry with a bogus password and adding multiple custom entries with the name of a service as the label and its recovery key as the "password". This syncs fine between my Macs. However, the iOS App (both on the iPhone and the iPad) only shows the one bogus password and none of the custom labels/passwords.

Is this a known bug?

    Hi @XIII,

This is a known issue, and you'll be happy to know that it has been resolved. You should see an update soon that has custom fields displaying correctly in password entries.

    This indeed works now. Thanks!

However, the opposite way is now broken...

I added custom fields to a secure note on my iPhone (iOS 8.1.3, 1Password 5.2) and these do show up on my iPad (same config), but not on my Mac (OS X 10.10.2, 1Password 5.1). The tag I added shows up everywhere (so notes are being synchronised).

Is this also a known issue? When will it be solved?

Thanks for the link @MrC! :)

@XIII, that link is for a discussion in our Mac forums about this issue. I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Our developers are working on squashing that bug.

If you have more questions about that, please let us know!

    Thank you for the pointer.

I really hope you can better coordinate such new features in the future. This is the second time that changes I made on one platform did not show up on another. Luckily the data was not lost (just invisible until the other platform got an update - more than a few days later), but this still is annoying. For me it is important that I can trust that my Vault data is ("immediately") available on "any" platform that I use 1Password (iOS, OS X, Windows) on.

  • That is not, historically, how the product has worked, and from a logistical standpoint is very difficult to coordinate. Forcing that sort of simultaneous release isn't necessarily practical. It may hold up important updates on one platform while waiting for another to finish up a feature request. We are moving toward being able to have multi-platform releases closer together, but it will still likely be rare to see more than one or two platforms updated on the same day.

    Thanks.

    Understood.

Maybe it's an idea to list new features in a table on the website, indicating on which platforms they are currently supported?

That would prevent me from getting disappointed after enthusiastically using a feature and then discovering that as a result I don't see my data on another platform (for a little or longer while).

Thank you very much for the feedback! We're always trying to update & improve our online documentation, and I agree it would be useful to have more information about which features are supported on which platforms. I can't make any promises, but hopefully we'll have more of that info available in the future. Thanks again! :)
