What is the simplest way (least number of step) to open an app with 1Password5 for iOS?

My questions are:
First: What is the recommended way of using 1Password5 for iOS to access the internet via an app that does not have a 1Password link built in to it?
Second: Do apps have a URLs that I could insert in the website field of a 1Password login item? If so, is there an uncomplicated way of determining it? How?

Background:
My principal reason for trying 1Password was to eliminate the need to type usernames and passwords with my fat fingers on the tiny keyboard of my iPhone. I suspended an initial attempt using 1Password on my phone in favor of learning to use it in the more familiar environment of my laptop. I have been more than pleased with iPassword4 for Mac and use it wherever I can. (I particularly like the mini version on the menu bar.) I now have returned to learning to use 1Password5 for iOS on an iPad. (Next will be an iPhone.) I find that there are sufficient differences between the Mac and iOS versions that the learning process has not gone as smoothly as I had hoped.
I interact on the internet with my iPad mostly using apps. Many of those apps do not need passwords and some that do can be left open at all times. While it seems relatively straightforward to open websites using 1Browser (and less so using the Safari extension) this does not get me to the app I want, but rather to a website which was designed for a larger screen. As an example, the Wall Street Journal has different versions of their paper for my mac, my ipad and my iphone. Each is scaled to fit the different screen sizes of the devices and the content is arranged differently. However if I use 1Browser or Safari to get the WSJ, I get the mac version, not the iPad version. I have similar issues with an airline website and a bank website. Any suggestions for how to get to the app version would be appreciated.

    Hi @JEagle,

Good questions! :) As for the answers:

First: What is the recommended way of using 1Password5 for iOS to access the internet via an app that does not have a 1Password link built in to it?

If you need to enter your login credentials in an iOS app that doesn't support the 1Password extension, you can copy and paste from the 1Password app. Simply find your Login item in 1Password, then tap on the username or password and choose Copy. Then you can switch back to the other app and paste it.

Second: Do apps have a URLs that I could insert in the website field of a 1Password login item? If so, is there an uncomplicated way of determining it? How?

I'm assuming you're asking about apps that support the 1Password extension on iOS? If so, when creating a login item for that app and entering a URL in the website field, you can usually enter the URL for the website associated with that app. When you use the extension from the app, it will have 1Password search for logins with a matching URL.

You can also create a Login item from an app that supports the 1Password extension. For more information about that, please see the section for "Creating a Login item in another app" in this page of the User Guide.

if I use 1Browser or Safari to get the WSJ, I get the mac version, not the iPad version. I have similar issues with an airline website and a bank website.

Whether you see the full/desktop version or mobile version of a website depends mostly on the website itself, and how it's programmed to work for different browsers on different devices or computers. Some sites have an option to let you choose to switch between mobile and desktop versions of their site. For sites that don't give you an option, you might be able to enter a URL specifically for the mobile version of the site, if you can find out what that is.

You might also want to try changing the User Agent setting in 1Password, which makes websites think you're using a different browser (this only affects 1Browser, not Safari). In the 1Password app, go to Settings > 1Browser > User Agent. You can change this to another option to see if it helps with certain sites. Please note that after you change this setting, you'll need to close and reopen the site in 1Browser for the change to take effect.

I hope this helps, but please let us know if you have more questions.
