Reconciling App store and downloaded versions of 1Password 5 or something else...???
I recently bought 1password from the app store. I had already purchased it from your site, but wanted the convenience of having it in the app store.
I felt fine about the extra money as I had easily gotten that much value from using 1password over many years.
There was a bit of a curve getting it set up and synching correctly via dropbox.
Things seem to be working until I started getting the following message.
Database backup failed
The 1Password Database could not be backed up. Database exists but is invalid. One or more keys files may be missing.
I am able to log onto 1Password from my various synched machines, though sometimes it will reject my password and I have to enter it again. I had written this off to mis-typing but am wondering if there is something deeper the matter.
Please help. Don't want to loose my 1password folder.

Hey @kenoli,
That is very odd indeed, it sounds like you may still have the older 1Password 3 for Mac installed somewhere on your Mac as this is an error we sometimes saw back in the day.
If you open up your Applications folder, do you have more than one version of 1Password there?
Cheers!

No. I do have a version 5 from your site on two computers and a version 5 from the app store on another computer all of which are linked through dropbox.
Every hour or so, I get the above message on all computers (don't know if it is simultaneous or not), probably when 1password tries to back up the vault.
I'd love to solve this issue. It concerns me. Don't want a corrupted vault.
I wondered if I started a new vault and merged it with this one that maybe things would sort out.
Help!!

Actually, I did find a couple of copies of 1password 3 on some backup discs. But they shouldn't be running. I removed them to the trash. They are not showing up in activities monitor.

1password mini is running, which I believe is correct as it is in the app package.

Hi @kenoli,
Thanks for providing the exact error message you got. I did some searching in the 1Password 5 code for this error message and I'm not finding it anywhere. This leads me to believe that it's not 1Password 5 that's bringing up this error. I'm told that v4 did have an error message like this though. Did you ever run 1Password 4? Is it possible that v4 is still around and running?
You should do a search of your systems for any additional 1Password apps. Search spotlight for '1Password' and see what comes up.
Let us know what you find.

I thought I had replied to this but don't see my reply. There are no other versions of 1password on my computer. I ran the 1password diagnostic app but when I tried to upload the file it produced to this forum said I could not do that.
I'd love to solve this issue. Any other ideas.

Hi @kenoli
You don't want to upload your diagnostic report to the forums. While it doesn't expose the contents of you vault there could be information in there you don't want made publicly available.
Assuming you createed a Diagnostics Report from your Mac using this guide this is what you want to do.
Attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Once you've sent the Report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!
