Restoring a backup from a different drive

Hello,
I was able to save a backup from my failing hard drive. After installing a new drive and loading the 1Password for Mac, it will not allow me to recover from the backed up file. The file stays greyed out. Is there a way to restore this file?

It's probably going to help if you can tell us:

    1. What was your old version of 1P that created the backup file and what version of 1P you're using now. (I appreciate they may both be the same, but we need to know.)
    2. What your version of OS X is and whether it's the same as it was on the failed drive.

  • Hi @gbmcd,

When you say that the file stays greyed out, what exactly do you mean by that? Are you using the 'Find Backup' button, and it's not letting you select the backup? The open panel that's brought up via 'Find Backup' wants users to select a file whose extension is 1p4_zip. You should be able to get one of those from the Backups directory inside of the Application Support directory for 1Password on the old drive.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
